Good morning, Okies!

I'm tired this morning but happy at the results of last night's chicken auction. Grace, I got the reverse trio (2 roos & a pullet) of Orloffs for Tara. Very nice birds. I believe she will be really happy with them. I know I'm impressed by them.

Did you notice the pair of Rosecomb RIRs? They are huge and have the beautiful dark mahogany red. Yep! I had to get them. I don't normally go for the large fowl (these being really large) but I couldn't pass them up. (I love rare and in the APA Standards!)

Speaking of really large, Stimpy those White Rocks are getting gi-normous. I hear them yelling in the living room now. They are saying they want their breakfast NOW. I have to get them moved outside soon. (yes, my "brooder" is inside)

Yesterday, I had 4 new baby chicks hatch. One more has pipped. I think I finally have the knack of it now. I seem to have the best results when I just put the eggs in and forget about them. I had to just quit fussing about the humidity and the temperature to get better hatches.

Our first Serama egg seems to not be growing.

I'm hoping they don't have all the problems reproducing that I have read about. Of course, the Birchen MGB are having the same problem. They have just started laying eggs (both pairs) but I can't pass up on the hope that any of their eggs might hatch.

Mom is supposed to get out of the hospital today. I'm so happy. It will be nice to not be hanging out at the hospital.

This cold snap caught me unprepared too. I have 9 chicks behind me in my office tight now. I have to take a break from the other projects to winterize my brooder so I don't have to have these things in the house. My wife isn't happy with the arrangement.

My young'uns have mamas to care for them, or they are old enough to handle the drop in temp (for the night). I might worry if it was constantly in the 30s. Young hardfeathers don't generally do well in the constant cold.

I has Orloffs! YaY!

Good morning, everyOkie! It's interesting to hear the music you guys like. I bought my first two CDs in 1994 - Beethoven Piano Sonatas performed by Arthur Rubinstein, and Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced? We had two records growing up: Johnny Cash and Dean Martin. I like the blues, too Stimpy - although lately I have been listening to Blood Sweat & Tears.

edited to correct the spelling of Mr. Rubinstein's name

Hello gumpsgirl, I don't believe I meet you and I like to know people that control my post. That way I am not in for surprise or I can discuses it with them before I post. I would have been glad to post to a certain thread if I had known about it. Sorry for my mistake. I do have a few question for you so could you PM me please.

Boy, is it cold this morning. My husband singing Let it snow Let it snow. I told him do not singing that darn song.
I didn't like it to cold. I think the turkeys like it. Half of them were setting on my front steps this morning. They been showing their feathers all morning. It like they saying get off that phone and come watch us. They are really putting on a show.
I sure will miss them aafter Monday. But I still have a few to watch.

Hiya Clucks,

I listen to a lot of Blood, Sweat and Tears too. They were one of the first live concerts I ever attended. It was at the Long Beach Arena and if I remember rightly, The James Gang opened for them. Maybe it was the other way around. It's been awhile.

Man, I'm lovin it outside today too. I had to take one of the ATV's to the shop to get it ready for this weekend and it's a lot warmer outside than I expected. I might actually get something done today. I said I might!
