Thank you Carah...I've been pretty sick. Been going to specialist and couldn't convince them that "I am sick". The doctor couldn't see past the fact that there was more going on than just an overweight lady that he is sure my cough is from acid reflux. I kept telling him that I was sure it was more than that but all he did was harp on my weight. I certainly didn't need him to tell me about my weight...I have to look at it every day in the mirror. It was like some great revelation to him that he needed to tell me about it....it certainly wasn't news to me.

Anyway, I've had this "cough" for ever and finally 10 days after seeing the doctor he finally said that there was a secondary throat infection going on. DUGH!!!

I'd been trying to tell him but he was positive it was "just acid reflux". So, now I've been off work all week...finally getting better now that he put me on 4 meds.

I hate doctor's like that. You know when something is different with your body yet they only deal with what they see......Did ya give him a few words to let him know to move on and look for something else.

I am glad they finally did something about it. I hope you get to feeling better soon! Don't stay gone so long!

I agree, but doctors don't really know everything. They only know what they are taught.

I know my body really well. When I don't feel well and know something is not right. A few years ago, I was really not feeling well and was just out of energy, which is not like me. I keep in really good shape, but I was starting to gain weight and could not get any energy for some reason and my face was breaking out even though I never had skin problems before (deep painful pimples on one of my cheeks that were not going away). I kept going to my doctor and she would tell me there was nothing wrong, except she did notice that I seemed a little constipated even though I had been having regular BM's, she put me on high fiber.

Then a couple of weeks later I really started getting sick and my lymph nodes became huge in my neck, you could look at me and see them swollen. I went back (I had also been noticing that this doc didn't seem to look at me when I would talk to her and seemed a little self absorbed and would look at herself in the mirror a lot. She had been having microdermabrasion and her skin was looking really good from the child acne scars she had that were finally diminishing) and she said it looks like you might have strep throat, but the test came back negative. She went ahead and put me on some strong antibiotics and sent my labs off for further analysis. About a week later, the tests came in and I did have strep, but a very rare strep throat, Strep C. I started doing research and found out this was a common strep for Birds and Rabbits, I didn't have chickens, birds or even rabbits at that time or even been around any. I was starting to feel a little better by then, but still not fully recovered. Then two days later I fell even sicker. So went back, now I had strep A the common strep throat, more stronger antibiotics were prescribed. However, now that I had been on high fiber I started noticing scrapings in my, you know. My husband teased me I had an internal engraving tool. So I mentioned this to my doc, although she barely was listening as she stared at herself in the mirror, she did say that I may need to see a specialist. Now a few months before I had already asked to see a specialist of this sort and she told me I didn't need to and I was just fine. But I knew something wasn't right and I was not feeling good.

Well, I got lined up with the specialist, but I also decided to change doctors and went to another doc. I ended up remaining sick with strep throats for almost 3 months. My new doc also tested me for mono, but I was starting to get a little better by this time and it came back inconclusive. However, the new doc and I both believe I may had mono and that was why I was so tired and not feeling well before the strep set in.

When I finally saw my specialist I told him about my internal engravers (of course he laughed and told me he had never had anybody tell him this before, but my husband and I are silly people) and he got me lined up as soon as he could for a colonoscopy, because he was certain himself that something was going on. So I had that done, and sure enough I had polyps. After the procedure, my doc told me the type that was removed was the most cancer aggressive type of polyps, but I was lucky bcs they were still benign.

Well, the moral of my story is you body is your temple and if you take care of it and listen to your body and know your body, don't let a silly doctor tell you nothing is wrong when you are certain something is not right. If I had not been as determined to find out what was wrong and listened to the original doc then I may not be here today. I strongly believe those polyps were poisoning my body and I was going down. After the procedure it took some time and I got even sicker for a few months, but then I got better and the acne went away and the weight I had gained dropped off with out even trying.

I don't disagree with any of this, I only stated what the ranger told me. Also, he told me this several years ago, and things may have changed a bit. Most of what we were discussing at the time was whether or not DH could bag a deer for meat on our property. His response was a personal one, not a professional one.

She's doing alright, I've got her in the house away from the other birds.
There's one of two hens out in the coop that could be laying the eggs. They are EE's I know that much.

Oh wow! That's awful. Please write back to tell us you are okay!

prayers going out to you. Please keep us up to date & let us know you are okay.

Cammie - you are too cute to be sick! Slap the doc in the head and tell 'em to fix you up or we are gonna let our chickens loose in thier Lexus! Prayers going out! You take care of yourself.

Just as a sidenote...to get real good care in a hospital it helps if you walk up to a nurse and tell them you are about to passout...and then do it!!! They freak and you go to the front of the line!! I did it once! Food poisoning...not fun...won't relate all the horrors but coughing was a dramatic event

County, I hope everything is alright. Best wishes.

Hi Sooner, rained stopped for now.

Kate, that was very informative. I don't think enough doctors listen to us enough. They get something in their head and forget that we know our bodies better than anyone. Alot of times, we know something isn't right and need them to listen to us and find out the problem.

Buster, your already offline but wanted to say howdy.

Thank you for the prayers everyone. I'm ok, they released me. I've had several ivp and have never had that happen. Felt like I was on fire! I'm just having a hard time staying awake, they loaded me up on benadryl. I go back at 2:30 to get the results of the scan.

Hi folks- remember the run problem the last storm we had??? well, this rain was supposed to be light...ummmm....

NOT!

didn't get a chance to raise the wall, or work on the creekbed, but the gang all hung out under the porch where it is pretty dry for them, the brahmas were smart, they got in the coop where it was dry-
