Good morning, Okies
Looks like the weather is a brisk 38 degrees this morning but the sun is shining and it is forcast to be in the low 70s this afternoon. Think I will go feed chickens and add some fresh shavings to the coops, and then tonight I am going to try and move some EE hens to the chicken yard and hope they will stay there, instead of flying over the fence and going back across the street. (Why did the chicken cross the road? Because her nest mates were on the other side and she likes sleeping in the bushes with them.) I apparently need to trim the wing feathers on one wing a little shorter than I did last time, because there is one white EE hen who doesn't want to stay relocated to the hen house with a nest box, even though I transfered her at night both times.

Good morning everyone!!! Looks like we have some die hard shoppers, not me I am at work, my mom and sister have been shopping since mid-night and still going I just think that is crazy!!!!

Man I wish it was going to be 70 here today when I walked out the door this morning the thermometer said 25 and I think it is only suppose to get up to 47 today here, my chickens dont seem to mind it so I guess I will just learn to live with it just like they do!!!

I hope that everyone has a great day!!!!

Good morning everyone... Thanks Poultry and Bees and Buster I will keep Carla in mind when we go to expand... Those turkey pics are just beautiful!... The only time we ever really see our 3 toms strutting their stuff is when the geese come around... its funny.... I think our Hens are getting a complex because of it..lol

The only time the tom in my avatar struts is when he sees people, which used to really confuse the turkey hens. The new tom struts for the turkey hens and tries to peck the tail feathers out of my pet tom when I am talking to him - I guess turkeys can have sibling rivalry also.

We woke up to calling the pies from last night... Breakfast pie.. ha ha ha yea such a healthy example to our kids we are... Jason, Kids and I are cleaning up more brush and taking down the old fencing that needs to be replaced... Jason and I decided to halt all working projects and just spend the few months cleaning up and clearing out the place... Everytime we think we made a dent, we find more stuff/junk buried in the ground... like kitchen sinks... ya know its bad when an neighbor pops over the fence and says Its Looking Great and then you hear the stories of the previous owners ill treatment of the property.

I think its great that at least we have elderly neighbors appreciating what we are doing but at the same time it makes me sad that people just leave things in the ground that can be dangerous to the land itself and to the animals that are housed there... I am grateful that none of our animals have injured them selves because of the stuff, but we as the caretakers sure have... especially when Austin(our son) was in the hospital for 4 days because of the nail that went through his foot...

Anyhoot I just gotta say I am so blessed by ya'll that I brag more about you guys than I do anything else... I learn alot of things from your wisdom than I have trying to read books on the subject of animal husbandry... Thank you all

hi everyone- has everyone recovered from feasting? It was quiet here, shared goodies with the feather gang- they really like mashed taters- no shopping here, just home made gifts, pretty low key- how hard is it to raise a turkey? do they get along with chickens?
