Didn't make it there this year. A friend and I went a couple of years ago and stopped at the theater on the way home to see The Bee Movie It was fun to show my granddaughter both the real life of bees making honey and the hollywood version in the same day.

All these pictures have us laughing like crazy!... on a side note of redneck... I dont have curtains but I do hang up aprons on my window with clothes pins, right now because its winter I just have the clothes pins holding up some pretty fabric .lol.

Aprons for curtains is a cute idea. I bought a quantity of vintage aprons at an auction a few years ago and that would be a great way to actually use them. Do you have a rod that you pin them to, or what do you attach the clothes pins to? We have lived in this house almost 10 years and since we don't have any houses close to the back of our home, I have never felt the need for curtains in my dining room. The house behind us has recently been sold and I saw truck lights of someone turning around in their backyard the other night. It is making me reconsider the need for curtains

You see their true beauty lies in their functionality. They were bred to be a dual purpose fowl and they lay eggs as well as any other dual purpose bird plus if you raise them for meat there is 50% less feathers to get rid of which leaves a smoother more eye appealing dressed bird.

The hens will go broody and the ones I have had will raise any chicks and they often raise the chicks as a community

NNs are naturally disease resistant (although I have yet to find a list of which diseases) and I have never lost a chick to Cocci.

In cooler climates their feed conversion rates drops off but in climates that are hot they outperform things like broilers or layers by leaps and bounds.

I've only had NN's for a couple of years now & must agree wholeheartedly with Les's evaluation of NN's. They are great layers and very hardy. I think the only one we've ever had die was an egg-bound hen.

As for pretty NN's, we're working on that .... those frizzle NN's are so cute & cuddly! I've got to get some glamour shots of them one of these days that I'm not stuck at work for 10 hours.

If only they laid blue & green eggs too .... hmmmm .... I think I need to cross some with my araucana! I want some Rumpless frizzle EE NN's!!!!

You have some really cool birds. Have you started a waiting list for purchasing eggs from your Seramas yet?

Agree with Les on the predator situation, some of those owls get realy freaking huge. I personly love Owls and think they are amazing creatures, though if I had one eating my birds id probly not be to fond of the thang. The guy I got my few turken eggs from loves the breed, says they are super layers and as pointed out, are dual purpose.

Okla doodle doo, gorgeous bantams you have there, time to build that flock up once you get some eggs outa them buggars

I so love little itty bitty bantams, there just sooooooo cute

Ok, I have to see pictures of these frizzle NNs. That might change my mind, maybe a little. Notice that I'm not making any promises here.

I'm going to make it a point to take some pictures of them Sunday when I finally have some time off from work. You probably need to see some youngsters in person too. I just might grab some chicks & take them on a road trip to Shawnee next Saturday.

I might even be convinced to sell a few of the newest arrivals that are around 3-4 weeks old.

Oh man... you're quite the pusher! Kinda reminds me of those t.v. shows with the dude and the jacket, opens the jacket and shows black market stuff that he'll sell to quell "cravings"... or like the old Garfield cartoons where Garfield is trying to sell Nermal from the trenchcoat...
