Reading about so many BYC folks setting hatches for Christmas pushed me over the edge, so I bought some Cream Brabanter eggs from Carla. I set the hatch last week along with a dozen Salmon Faverolles. I candled today, and I was please do see so many developing.
It looks like 15 Brabanters and 8 Faverolles are one their way to a white Christmas. I'm going to have to quit teaching and raise chickens full time if I can't kick this hatching addiction. My second incubator came on, almost by itself, and the next thing I knew I'd arranged to have some more Barnevelder, Light Brahama, and Speckled Sussex eggs shipped. DH comes back from a two-week business trip tonight, so I'm going to tell him the incubators are helping to heat the front office. He knows about the eggs, but I don't think he really "knows" about the eggs. Talking with my DH about chickens is like dancing about algebra. Is it really that hard? I need an Amen from someone out there. I NEED my chickens. Without my chickens, I don't have chickens.
