Les, now that I have stopped laughing - is the knowlege regarding chicken poo and slingshots something you heard about or something you know from experience?

Lets just say that having a flat side does not make it aerodynamic and in this case it flew about 20 feet to the right.

Henny - I agree that I would rather live in Oklahoma than anywhere else. That doesn't however keep me from mumbling under my breath about the extreme differences in temperature from one day to the next. This below freezing stuff has me wondering why I keep poultry and animals that have to be fed and watered on a daily basis - regardless of the temperature.

Sounds like one of those "it seemed like a good idea at the time" moments.

Just got in so I wanted to check in w/ my fellow Hens & Roos. I see everybody has been dealing with this heat wave in the same manner. I did as well once at 6:00am and then at 7:00pm when I got home, I have 5 waterers on heaters but still have 5 that aren't. all is just hunky dory though, I had a long rough one today, was working on water heaters and pipes this morning and when I realized that ice breaks on you hands when you make a fist I thought it was time to move on to another task. I don't wear gloves they get in the way, when I was about to head to the ponderosa around 4:00 I get a call saying the 86 windows I ordered 2 wks ago came in and I have to pick them up ASAP, so there was another 3 hrs in the heat, loading and unloading.

Boy everybody has been typing up a storm today, what did I miss ??. I saw Stimpy got a tan today while eating beans and coolaid. I see my friend Henny's chooks are never going to get toughened up. Teach, Monty and Shawn are keeping you entertained, While Carah & Jeannie keeps in grins.

I think I may have to go back outside in a bit to change the thermostat on the DW's Explorer, unless I smack her in the head with a fryin pan and she get's amniesia LOL, perhaps she will have Mercy on me, yeah right hehehhe.

Some coffee sounds good about now.

I once heard someone say that the four seasons in Oklahoma are Summer, still Summer, Christmas, and Summer. I think he was right. It's been pretty nice right up until the bottom fell out of the thermometer.

If that is true, I am ready for January and summer again. My brain says "this is normal weather for December in Oklahoma" but my body says "stay inside - it is too cold out there for creatures without feathers or full fur coats"

I laughed to myself when I put on my light brown Carhart jacket with the hood - so I could brave the outside today. Like McAllen is the only one with that piece of essential Oklahoma weather gear. Mine would need a trip through the washing machine before it could be presentable at Shawnee.

The wind brought down a few tree branches last night. Tonight it's not as cold, and the drizzle has passed, but I've moved four roosters into the barn to ease their frosty wattles. They've been playing in the heated water dishes, stupid birds. One Speckled Sussex rooster has been standing in the water dish. I think he likes the warmth on his fat little toes. Unfortunately, when he leaves the dish, he's exposing he feet and legs to extreme cold. I read a few stories about roosters whose feet fell off due to frostbite, and I'm not interested in changing this bad boy's name to Stumpy.

I tried Less but the slackers were working today and I wasn't in the mood to deal with bratty 20 somethings, so I just got it handled and promised them it won't happen again ever. I think they just walked off and said whateeveer, ya know that thing they do.
