Morning all! It's too dang cold! I sure feel sorry for DH having to lug warm water out to the hen house this morning. He doesn't get around too well, and always manages to slop some on him.
P&B - What is the withdrawal period for Wazine? I had a couple of hens that I thought had Cocci, so I'm currently medicating the water with Corid - (lost one anyway, dangit!). DH says it looks like one is pooping worms, but I haven't seen the poo myself. Could this have caused the bloody poo instead of the cocci?
It is unusual for an adult bird to get Cocci. I would imagine the blood is from worms. The Wazine is the safest wormer that you can get and is often used on humans.
Use 1 oz. per gallon of water and use it as the only water for a full day, re-fill the waterers if needed but use it all day long. I usually withhold the water starting early evening the day before so when they get up the next morning they get a nice long drink.Repeat the treatment in 14 days to break the life cycle of the worms and then you may have to go to a monthly schedule through winter to get it cleared up.
