I have used the hand warmers, but I wouldnt chance it with the temps we have been having.

You think they will get too cold? I thinking of putting a few in there around the edges of the carrier. I will be using one of the little plastic cat carriers. I think that will help to hold some of the heat in. I can also cover part of the carrier with a blanket or something. I probably won't go to the mall or anything like that. They might be left in there for an hour or two at the most.

I wouldnt trust them to keep warm enough. When I have used them, I put some around the edges and then some on the florr of the bedding so they can sit on them. What time will you be at the Doctors? If it is late afternoon the the sun will be out and the temps might be warm enough.

OBI sent my DH a letter several years ago advising him that he could not donate any more. He had been vaccinated for Hep B whilst in the Marines. The girl I spoke to said he had the antibodies, but not the disease, so in reality, his blood was safer than most other people's, but rules are rules. Pretty soon, they are going to have so many restrictions on who can't give blood that they will have to stop taking donations entirely!

See even he knows whats best.
My husband is not very helpful in that area either. He likes the chickens just as much as I do.

Roy,

You have (that I know of):

Mille Fleur d'uccle

Splash or very light blue Mille Fleur d'uccle

Porcelain d'uccle

You could get a regular Mille Fleur d'uccle rooster to cover all of them, the babies from the Porcelain would be split for the porcelain color and look like regular mille fleurs. You could breed the sons back to the mothers and get some pure porcelains again, or breed sibling to sibling. Porcelain is lavender on the mille fleur pattern.

Using a regular Mille Fleur d'uccle rooster with the splash or light blue hen would give you (if she is splash) all blue mille fleur offspring, or (if she is blue) blue and regular mille fleur offspring.

Clear as mud?

I have a Black Mottled d'Uccle hen (pullet) but in my four years of showing and selling birds I have only seen one other Black Mottled d'Uccle, and that was before I got mine. I would love to find a Black Mottled d'Uccle rooster for her, but I don't think that's going to happen

Do you know another color I could put with her and still get some pure color of chicks (meaning a color(s) I could still show).

OK I'm about ready to leave the house. I had to wait for my DH to get off work before I left. I wanted to see him for a few minutes today. I left for work this morning before anyone else got out of bed. I guess I will just leave the birds at Grandpa's house and drive back to McLoud when I'm finished in OKC. I may even make a trip into Shawnee. For some reason, I like the mall there best.

I don't handle my chickens enough to get them tame enough to be held, but there are others that do hold their chickens. My suggestion would be to start with some silkies, since they are so calm by nature. BetsyOK could certainly fix you up on some of those.

If you just want some chickens for eye candy, I have quite a few Easter Egg crosses that I would be happy to share - both pullets and roosters. I suspect that with enough TLC and hand feeding, he could get just about any chicken to become a pet.

Hot water bottles - or boiling water in bottles wrapped in towels? Microwaved rice warmer thingy? I have a 12V to 110 power inverter that I can plug into the cig lighter on my car, then plug a heating pad (or laptop) into it. One of those would be handy if have one.

I have a handsome young gold-necked d'uccle rooster from eggs I got from a BYC lady in Arizona ... if anyone is interested I could probably be talked out of him for a trade of something I might want ???? I have a pullet gold-necked/mille fleur cross, too.

I also have lots of silkie chicks, silver sebright chicks, a few turken chicks and a young black copper marans cockeral.

I love a good trade ... maybe even some hutches or cages or barrels or something for chickens to get out of the severe weather? Teach, are you coming to the OKC area soon?

I just listened to the weather forecast and it's possible we'll have a severe winter storm around Christmas. Gosh, I hope not
