P&B - which diet drink came out first - Tab or Fresca? I remember the first time I had a Fresca - It's just about the only time I didn't finish a soda pop. I'm not a brand snob - I like diet Coke and diet Pepsi - even diet Doctor Pepper. Don't much care for Dew, but that's all hubby drinks... sort of. Us poor folks have to drink diet Sam's stuff... it's not too bad once you get used to it...

Dee, you may be right that Fresca came first. I think that Fresca was available when I was in high school. I first tasted Tab shortly after I moved to Oklahoma, after college.
Interestingly, when Tab first hit the shelves, it was so popular that if it had continued at its high rate of acceptance, everyone in the world would have been drinking Tab within a relatively few years. I seem to recall that information from a class somewhere.

Now I am going to have to look that up to satisfy my curiosity.

I remember when I was a kid, my older sister was all but addicted to Tab. I never could develop a taste for it myself. I still enjoy an ice cold Fresca now and then.

So, what kind of turkeys did you order?

Standard Bronze Turkeys(Already raising 2)
Quantity: 3

Royal Palm Turkeys
Quantity: 5

Narragansett Turkey ( we already are raising 3)
Quantity: 2

Chocolate Turkey
Quantity: 5

Jason is really digging the Turkey thing... lol...

Wish you would have said you were ordering turkeys from McMurray's I need to order bourbon reds but you have to order 15 at least. I love baby turkeys the best. That little piff piff sound they make and the three scaled whistle they have is just the cutest darn thing. I have also noticed they seem to be responsive to being handled, especially when they are first hatched.

If anyone is going to order from McMurray's let me know and I will go in on an order with ya. So when are you going to get yours in? My goal this year is to buy bourbons from McMurray, Ideal, Cackle and Purely Poultry to diversify my flock's bloodlines. Sticking to the bourbon reds since my birds are all free range. I just can not wait until spring

I always get so jealous of people who have such pretty, polished nails. I can't wear nail polish. It's a waste of time and money, because it won't stay on more than an hour or so - it flakes right off. Even "STICKY" doesn't help. I have very thin, flexible nails and oily nail beds. Polish doesn't stand a chance... Of course, I could get acrylics, but I hate how expensive they are - my budget just won't go there these days...

Hi Everyone! Thank you all for the warm welcome!
This all started out as my small addiction, and low and behold, I got my hubby hooked!! We just hatched our first babies yesterday and can't wait to do it all over again!! The anticipation almost killed us!! The kids and my mom even got eggcited about it too!!

Hubby would LOOOOOVVVVEEEE to add some silkies, and wynandotte to our flock as well, of course this is just to start!! LOL He's already got plans to build a bigger and better coop than the one we have now. It started out as a 6x6 coop, with a cement floor (to keep out the intruders) has 2 roosts, 3 individual nesting boxes, and 1 community nesting box. Their run started out to be just about 3-4 foot wider in the front and on one side than the coop, and we've had to extend the one side another 3 foot or so to give them more grass (which we learned they killed quickly) LOL

*edited to add* We recently lost our Peking duck "Puddles"...May she rest in peace!!

She had such an awesome personality, and was a great "mom" to the chickens! She made sure they went in the coop at night, and "told" them when it was time to get up on the roost at night!
smile.png
We miss her terribly and would love to find another like her, and possibly a male as her companion...Hubby also wanted me to mention that we would be willing to trade fertilized eggs or chicks for another breed of chickens we currently don't have if anyone is interested. We have a BR rooster, 2 LH? hens, 1 americauna hen, 1 black ???? hen, 1 RIR hen , and 8 BR hens.

Hubby tried his hand at making a home-made incubator (I think I might have mentioned it in another post)...He used an old ice chest we don't use anymore, cut a square out for a "window", used an old pc fan, light bulb, hygrometer (sp?). We weren't sure it was going to work, but after all, Hubby IS pretty smart!!
smile.png
21 days later out came our newest lil' members!!
He'd LOVE to have a "real" incubator, but funds are tight so I guess its gonna have to wait until we can pick up a good one.

Anywho...thats all for now! We, especially hubby, reads a lot of the posts on here, and we can't thank you all enough for sharing your experiences, and giving helpful hints and tips!! We TRUELY appreciate all of it!! Keep 'em coming!!

Talk to you all soon,
Jeanine & Justin

P.S, I'll go read the FAQ page to learn how to add pics!! LOL

It's all in the brand. Seriously. Most polishes just flake off my nails, but there are a few that stay on (including one cheap polish from Walgreens of all places). That and "dries instantly" topcoat (30 second dry, no joke) and I can keep polish on my nails about 4 days before it flakes/chips. Otherwise, I can literally peel it off my nail in a sheet.

I love acrylics. I do *not* love the price tag/every 2-3 week upkeep... especially since I don't have the budget for it. However, I plan on getting a set on my birthday and having J pay for it as my birthday present. He gets of relatively cheaply, and I don't have to hear him asking me "what do you want?" 50 thousand times... because for some reason he *doesn't believe me* when I say "more chickens... at YOUR house!"

I have never had strong enough nails to wear polish, so never developed the ability to leave it alone and not chip it off within a few hours of putting it on. Even though I wear gloves while doing the chores most of the time, because my skin stays so dry it cracks easily, I still break my nails regularly so wear them pretty short.

I keep mine short so I can type. They are very thin, and if they get very long at all - they are very sharp - dangerously so! (and I have the scars to prove it!

) And like Faerie's nails, the nail polish will come off in a single sheet. Any more, I'm just happy to get them clean!

Ladies just buff out with some good 400 grit, lay the primer on thick and then shoot with a top coat with plenty of hardener in it. It will be dry almost immediatly and will have plenty of flex to it as long as you use the right type of paint.

Well it works for what I do anyways.

Maybe ya'll can get together and "add to" the original order. Turkeys must start laying much earlier in Texas, where Ideal is located, than they do in Oklahoma. My turkeys usually start laying about the middle of March or early April.
