Morning Faerie, I am attempting to get motovated this morning I have another long work day planned. This whole week I haven't made it in before 7:00pm, I have been checking chickens while their on the roost, But luckily the DW feeds/waters them well before I get home, she's good about stuff like that.

I scoop crap then too! Many is the time I have thanked God for the white cap on chicken crap that allows it to glow in the dark!!!

Matt....a teacher that I work with did it one year while we were hatching. She somehow put a tiny pinhole in the egg just before it hatched and put food coloring in the eggs. I can ask her...can't remember exactly how she did it.

I have heard that they are Dyed in the shell before hatching, but not really sure. I have also heard that some new laws may be prohibiting that practice, The animal rights folks found it and pounced on the idea. Their debate was centered around the fact that these chicks tend to be discarded by children & parents after the novelty wears off.

Anyone interested in the guinea/chicken cross might want to visit our guineafowlinternational.org site and go to the forum. The post on top of the page (complete with pictures) this morning is about a cross that showed up in one of our group's hatches. She's posted pictures of this youngster since soon after it hatched, so a search should bring up more pictures. Several of our members have had "guin hens," though they are sterile and don't seem to live very many years. Most are not very attractive, but some have actually been "cute." I know we have more information on our site about this, but am not sure exactly where to find it.

Hmmm, you would think that if these animal rights extreemists really wanted to find a cause to squal about in the poultry world they would take the time to visit an industrial egg or poultry meat production farm. I wonder if they ever think about that when they are stuffing KFC in their mouths.

It has been my experience that they do like looking for any animal area from which to set up their soap boxes.

Is it legal to get colored chicks in Oklahoma? Someone told me a few years back that the chicks are males that would be destroyed anyway. Two methods of dying were mentioned: injection of dye into the egg before it hatches, and misting food coloring over newly hatched chicks. I never investigated. Maybe you could get information from one of the hatchery websites.

Morning everyone.

I have been griping about the weather guys but David Payne at Channel four is the best about explaining and saying what is going on and how quick it is changing and why and how it is so hard to track and that we won't know for sure until it is here.
Mike Morgan came on at ten last night as giddy as a third grader wanting to get of school. He was rattling on about OKC being the center of the target and how much snow we were gionna get. He pretty much said it is a done deal so get ready cause the big one is coming.
My wife laughs at me because I get so torked up over the weather. She thinks God is messing with the weather folks to let them know he is still in charge.

Yup, must still be in Oklahoma.....was 60o yesterday,
raining today,......and have the promise of snow
tomorrow ! Gees, all of you around OKC be careful.
If it's gonna do that out there, what's Teach looking
at????????? Hope any of you that have to do any
traveling are only going a short distance and will
be near home.

They're saying 4-7" here in Tahlequah. We only
have to go into Tahlequah proper tomorrow evening,
but I'm gonna get my cheeseballs chilled, cookies
baked, and relish plates put together and take
them in this evening. There's lots of hills between
here and town............ Except for the great-grandsons,
I'd just as soon stay home.

Stay safe and HAVE A METTY CHRISTMAS, ALL !!!!
