Sometimes I'm afraid I'm screwing up their eating schedule... they wait for me to feed them. They hear me come out of the house and they all jump down from their roost and wait for me to feed/water them, because Mama puts treats in their food bowls (if it's really cold, I make them a hot mash). So they patiently wait for me.... to the point where I bring out a big spotlight now so they don't trip over themselves because they can't see.

I'm sure they'll be glad to be fed before dark now...

Actually, I had decided to go to bed, but once the dishwasher was loaded and running I decided to see if anyone else was still on here. My hat is off to anyone who makes their own clothes.

I liked the cutting out the fabric part, but didn't like the finishing it up and hemming it part. I don't recall how many half finished outfits and needlework/craft projects I tossed when we moved into this house. I finally acknowledged that after more than 17 years, I wasn't going to finish some of the projects I started before we got married.

A few years ago, I decided I wanted to begin making quilts. I have a closet full of gorgeous fabrics that I consider too pretty to cut. Now, when I feel compelled to buy fabric, I acknowlege that I am a "stash builder" and only buy fabrics that I want to look at for awhile, before I pass them along to someone else to actually use.

Sell the worn out stuff at a premium and buy all new.

Seems the craze for ripped up jeans is back, saw an entire rack of them a Wally World for half again as much as new and whole jeans.

Remember the Levis 501 craze? I sold some used ones for 100 bucks a pair.

You were smart. At one time, folks were buying those things up and shipping them to Europe, where they sold for a fortune.
Sadly, I have never owned a $100 pair of jeans.

I always wore Wranglers or a style of Levi's that wasn't the "popular" variety.

A few years ago I saw a display in the American History museum at the Smithsonian - about how denim is "stone washed" to age it. That process certainly changed how we perceived denim jeans.

I came home just now to find the possum having his Christmas dinner early. On the front porch with the light on! When I walked toward him he just looked at me and kept eating. And I thought I'd been feeding the neighbor's abandoned cat.

DH gripes because I keep cat food on the back porch for the cats I know we feed and probably a few that I haven't met. He keeps telling me it attracts possums and skunks. I know it attracts chickens that are small enough to squeeze under the backyard gate - they don't seem to mind eating the brands of dry catfood that the cats are not as fond of.

Well the wind just picked up here. I am not looking forward to what is coming.

Teva and I moved pens the other night and battened down the hatches but I still have to get out in it. And I bet that I can count on one customer to come in tomorrow with light problems on his truck. He will get there ten minutes before we close, doesn't matter the time we close either, and I will have to lay out on the driveway and re-wire the back of his truck.

So I think that I will head off to bed.

Good night all - again. I guess we will know in the morning whether there is snow on the ground.

Since the grocery store wasn't too crowded this evening, with panicking people buying all the bread and milk off the shelves, I figure: 1) no one believes the weather guessers anymore
2) folks are buying groceries at Walmart or Target while they are there anyway doing their Christmas shopping
3) it is so close to Christmas we are all numb and can't get up enough energy to worry about our unpredictable weather, or
4) we are going to get a dilly of a winter storm because we didn't believe the weather guessers might actually be right and we aren't totally prepared

Naturally - that is just the way things work out - particularly if the weather is REALLY nasty and you are wanting to go home to spend Christmas Eve with your family.

I can't stand it - we are one post away from 41,200 posts - with my post I think we have made it there and I can go to bed, knowing I actually accomplished something worthwhile this evening.
