In the summer it isn't so bad, there are a lot of shade trees that help keep certain parts of the house cool. but our house is not a normal shape either, it is sort of a cross shaped house. My husband and my bedroom is the coldest facing the north and sticks out from the rest of the house. Then the living room arches out with windows taking up more than half of the walls facing the East. Then there are two sets of french type doors, one set leads to the dining room the other to our daughters room then a door into our bedroom and then another door to a porch. The dining room has the one set of french doors, then another door into our daughters bedroom, another door to the laundry room, another doorway into the kitchen, and a door to another porch, with one set of big windows. Our room has the one door from the living room, a door from our daughters room, two outside doors leading to two different porches, and three large sets of windows. Our daughters room has the french doors from the living room, the door to the dining room, door to our room, and another door to the back bedroom and a large set of windows that look out onto one of the porches. The back bedroom then has another door out to another porch and two sets of large windows. The kitchen has a door to another porch and two sets of large windows. The laundry room has the doorway from the kitchen and the door that comes from the dining room and another outside door to the same porch as the kitchen and two sets of smaller windows. So if you have lost count, that is 7 doors leading to the outside to many different porches and several large windows. We hardly have any wall space for any pictures or anything else to hang up on the walls, because this house seemed to be mostly built with windows and doors, and the space that was left it has bookcases. But another cool thing about this house is the fireplace. It opens up to the living room, our bedroom and our daughters bedroom. Have you ever heard of one fireplace with three openings. Unfortunately, my DH father placed gas stoves in two of the three openings and so we cannot use the fireplace. Supposedly it was very inefficient, I suppose with three openings it had a hard time heating and smoke or something or another. Maybe someday when I have some extra $ we can convert it back and make it somehow efficient because I think it is really cool. I think there used to be another fireplace in the kitchen too that was used for cooking, not for certain on that, but there does seem to be a flue on top of the house for one and it looks like when I pull the drawers out there might have been a chimney walled up before they put in the cabinetry. I would love to redo the kitchen and bring back that fireplace too and possibly add on to the kitchen over where the old cellar is, which is right outside the door to the laundry room. I will have to try and post some pics sometime so that maybe all of this description makes sense. The only other bad thing about this house is there is NO closet space, except for two very small closets in my daughters room. I suppose back in the day they didn't have women like my daughter and I who like clothes, LOL, or my husband for that matter, ROFL.
