My biggest problem is that while I've had 3 years of high school Spanish and 3 intense college courses in Spanish, I am too shy to find someone to practice with (and my grandmother goes to bed WAY early...

) so I never had anybody to practice with... therefore none of the Spanish I've taken ever seems to "stick".

I have found that many courses in Spanish spent way too much time on conjucation than on conversation. I am fairly sad...I can work cattle, horses and hogs in Spanish. i only know how to lay concrete in spanish. I can start a fight in Spanish...and finish it. Put I don't do a real good job of talking about everyday things! they laugh because I stop them from cussing and such and will know some specific compicated terms but will get lost in conversation and music is usually beyond me...I think slow and can't keep up! Worked with a Cuban guy...never knew what he was talking about! he ran a load-out crew...we never knew when he was speaking English or Spanish because both went way to fast!

No, I don't think we're bashing anything. I don't like Garth Brooks, but I like Chris Gaines. I don't speak Spanish, but I like salsa (the music AND the sauce). But, my daughter gave me a Spanish language program for Christmas so I'll be learning it soon.

You'd better! We had an hispanic pastor visit our church for Cinco De Mayo about 3 years ago.... He told us all to learn spanish because they were going to take the U.S. over.... (I'm from CA... so I have no argument). He kept yelling at the congregation..."We're not just in Taco Bell anymore!" (Their battle cry?) I was apalled...what a platform for that political crap. Especially since he was there begging our largely anglo church for money!! I woulda hauled him off the stage if I had been our pastor. They invited him back the next year....thought a few folks were gonna have a stroke!!! LOL...

I love Mercy Me. However, I have to agree with Barnswallow....Casting Crowns are one of my favorite also. I wish I had had contempory Christian music when I was a teenager. I love the old hymns but sure do like todays music.

I grew up listening to, and singing with gospel quartets and singing some street corner doowop. Believe it or not, at one time I was a pretty good tenor.

Daddy Sang bass, Momma Sang Tenor Me and little brother would join right in there

This semester I have a biology course (book is around 122, the lab manual around 15). The killer is the Social Psych book... it's only available new this semester because they're changing books.

I don't wanna know what the book price will be for psych stats and regular stats, which are the two classes I'm taking NEXT term.

Did I hear Stats, I love statistics! Ok yes those are going to cost you a pretty penny at least all of my Stat classes books have been some of my more expensive books. Math, Statistics and Science books seem to be very expensive. I have had some cost $200 before, in fact some last semester were super expensive. It is really sad how much they cost, then when you sell them back, if they are going to have the same book the next semester they hardly give you anything for them. Although, with most of my stat and math books I keep them. They have come in handy for me later. I have even had though where I bought a book that was brand new and cost a lot to then try and sell it back after the semester was over for them to say no we are getting new ones or since the class is only taught every other year they don't buy them back and always get new ones. Now that is really aggravating! I do have some other students who are in my classes that are from China and they buy the same book over there, but the paper used is a little different and the covers are typically paper back and hardly pay anything compared to what I pay for the ones here. In fact, you can go online and get those and have them shipped here and still save some money, but you have to plan ahead of time for that.

I am looking forward to the class... just not buying the books.

Ah well. If I have issues with the subject (pretty much every math/science class I've ever taken) I keep the book as reference because I already KNOW I'm gonna need it.
