I wondered about that, because they both have bloated stomachs that look like they absorbed yolks. I have a hen that lays double yolked eggs pretty regularly but they are quite a bit bigger than the other eggs. And she's in the layer flock, so I've never tried to hatch any of her eggs. But the egg in question here wasn't that much larger than any of the eggs surrounding it. I just saw a chick that seemed to be having trouble shedding his egg and decided to give him a hand. When he was out, there was another crammed down in there, so I carefully peeled the shell away from him and he stretched his legs out and started chirping. I took that to mean that he was ok so I put him back in the hatcher.

Good Afternoon Everyone (who is not at the auction, of which I am so jealous of)

Stimpy that is so cool you got twins. That is really rare isn't?? I have always been told they would not hatch. Yeah you!! And yes I want to see pictures..

Well I found 3 eggs in the coop today so I guess I am in the egg laying business again.

I think it was from my Jersey Giant hen since she is the only one who perches on the top nesting boxes. It was so cute when I got home because all my chickens where running around the yard seeming to enjoy this rainy weather.

Dumb chickens!!

I need to get the coop cleaned out. It is getting kinda yucky in there.

Probably cuz I make my turkey go into the coop at night and boy that guy can poop huge piles. Gross!
So need to get the other coop up soon. It is going to start getting crowded soon. I have a metal storage shed I got from a lady a couple of years ago and am going to use that as the secondary coop and have another on that was here when I bought the place that I am going to use as a third coop. I really like the metal for easy cleaning. Still need a bunch of zip screws with washers to get the second coop together. Ah well, have to wait til payday.

So what is on everyones agenda tonight? I am going to look at the different hatchery sites and make my wish lists. Already have one for Ideal. Thinking of breaking out the bator, kinda getting the itch with all of you talking about hatching eggs. I am wanting to hatch Mille Fleur Cochins. Those are such cute birds cause you all know how I like feathered legs and bearded chickens.

Well I am going to go make me a chili burrito and see if I can get the man to finish watching this movie with me we started a couple of days ago. Bye for now!!

I made it to work in the yucky drizzly rain today. Well, since it's so yucky outside, I might as well be working & making extra money so I can turn around & spend it on chickens!!!

I talked to Gerald on the phone just a while ago, and he finally made it home from his fun trip driving the deuce. He said he brought home a lot of wood crates for our critters, but he said they didn't have any very big crates left. I asked him if they're dog house or goat house size & he said yeah.

Here's where he went to get crates today ... I didn't mention it to anyone until now, since I didn't know for sure if they really had many. This ad was posted on Wednesday, and I didn't read it until yesterday. Gerald said they have quite a few of them left, different sizes. I think they could make some great, inexpensive critter shelters, if fixed up & painted.

Oh, and the guy replied to my email and said the crates can be picked up on weekdays, so it's not too late.

It had been in the mid-upper 50s here all day. Currently it is 54. We kicked the kids outside to play, got the coops cleaned out, and watched some turkeys on tv. Other than that, we didn't get much done today. Lauren is currently watching figure skating on tv, Andrew and Jordan went to feed cattle, and I'm talking to my peeps. What's everyone else up to?

Modern Marvels I'm not sure what channel it was on. Andrew was watching it and I decided to join. I'm glad I already decided that I like tukey bacon bfore I saw how it is made. That just looked disgusting!
