Beth, I can see his point in wanting some money up front..... but I have no idea if he can be trusted or not!

I imagine you could find a used Sportsman for that much or just a bit more, though, and then you could hatch lots of eggs

You might ask him for references or check with the Better Business Bureau to see if they have received any complaints on him.

You might also be on the lookout for a used Sportsman. I have seen them on Craigslist for about $200 - 250.

Chiclooker might be a good person to check with since he repairs Sportsman incubators. He might have some used ones for sale or know where to find one.

If you are only going to hatch 40 eggs or so at a time, you might consider going with a high end Hovabator with a fan and an automatic turner - maybe even one that has the digital settings.

So I got up early this morning and dug me a path behind each tire down the driveway, two of'um about 1/4 mile or so it seemed, then got cleaned up and headed for work. About 1/2 way there (20 miles from home) I get a call from work saying don't bother comin in, hmmph!! So back home I came, figures.

<BIG YAWN> So, I've been laying around most of the day just nappin and wondering how Verdigris Valley Electric managed to keep the power on this time. Usually we lose power even if it's just a good rain storm.

Maybe I'll go lay on the couch some more.... I got sleepy eyes.

Hey everyone. I talked to Al a little bit ago and he and his crew are doing fine.
He has plenty of kerosene to run his heater and also was using his propane turkey fryer to take the chill off in his house.
He said he was "McGyvering" and had found a way he could charge the cell phones. Too technical for me to remember.
But I think it involved a ball point pen, a coconut and a magnet.

He also had gotten word that the water was being shut down in order to repair a break in the main line. So he was hoarding all of the water he could.

His birds are all fine he said when he broke the icy covering off and went inside the chicken condo that it was almost toasty warm inside.
Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as well as the others that have lost power. Al said it might be two weeks before they get everything restored down that way!
That is about all I know for now.

Filed my taxes. Filed J's too because he asked so sweetly. Remind me to not fall for that routine again. I asked him for Arby's as payment for doing his taxes, and NOW he's giving me grief... after I already filed them.

We didn't get any cabbage for the birds. However, we did get lettuce. Homeland had heads of iceberg lettuce on sale for a buck each. We grabbed six of them. I just hung one in the coop and everyone went crazy over it. It didn't last 30 minutes. We broke a head opent he other day to make sandwiches. I threw the leftovers from that head into the pen for the birds that ventured out today.

Everything is good here. Just awaiting me dinner, DH is making omletts & bacon. Yep needed to use some of the eggs I have been getting. I guess I am going to have to put my sign out to start selling some of them.

I really don't know if they are having any outages in Tulsa. I know the last time she posted they had been working her alot. I hope that is all it is. I will try to call her tomorrow if she hasn't checked in.

how are things your way Monty??

When the weather gets better, want to carpool up to Collinsville early some Saturday morning to check out the informal chicken sale they have? We could meet in Muskogee and carpool up the turnpike from there.
