You can check with a lady named Cammy (that is her screen name on here, too). I was just at her place the other day and she had a neat little PVC pen.

Thanks! I'll send her a PM. Maybe she has some pictures uploaded already. I've found places to order special joints relatively inexpensively, so maybe building pens for inside the barn would be practical. I'm intrigued by the tight-fit Ts that you don't glue on. They are used for hinges but don't slide down the pipe. Too cool. I wonder if they really work as described.

please send me the names of the places you found for fittings, not sure what you mean about tight fit, but have heard of slip fit used for hinges, seems like they would have to move some to rotate, have seen them use the full pipe used for hinge to rotate in the connectors.

I think my Brabanters don't like the snow. When I went to feed early, early this morning, they looked out but wouldn't come out. When I crouched near the feeder to fill it, three flew from their house to my shoulders, and one ended up on my head. I'll need to put some straw out in front of the feeder to protect their ultra sensitive little blue feet. I'm glad I waited to wash my hair until after my morning chores.

Well...I came in, ate, warmed-up, and am headed back out. Tater soup is so good when you are cold.

I am willing to throw my two cents in when it comes to guns as well! I don't have near enough...following the same thinking on birds! Whoever has the most wins!

Y'all behave yourselves.

If you get a chance and talk at Mike...I have more needs! Don't wanna interfere with a good nap! I remember when I had a real job and worked strange times in strange conditions. Stupid pigs didn't care if i wanted to sleep late or not!

Thanks for letting us know - the thing to worry about now is wind, if there is any ice on your electric lines. They are not designed to wave madly in the breeze when heavy with ice.

Well, that's what I get for bragging, I guess. Our power went down about 4 hours later and has been down since. About 36 hours now and counting. I came in to the library which has free wireless just to update and recharge my phone.

The generator I thought was all set went out early, and we are going through firewood faster than anticipated. I took a page out of Stimpy's playbook and pushed the freezer out the front of the garage and so far the cold temps are helping to keep all that meat (about 200 pounds of it) frozen.

Our rental place in town lost three trees and all the rest but two received some damage. The three big ones split down various degrees of the middle, one damaging the roof of the big house, one falling harmlessly into the yard, and one crushing the front fence.

But, we are doing fine. Plenty of wood to see us through, the insert is working well for both heating and cooking, water is running fine, all of the animals are safe and doing about as well as can be expected. Haven't lost any yet.

See you when the power comes back on. Y'all have fun.

Glad you checked in. I have a feeling that the areas around Lawton are going to be without power for awhile, particularly since as Al indicated they lost transmission lines rather than just distribution lines. When OKC was hit so hard in '07, OG&E replaced transmission poles with metal poles. More expensive in the short run, but hopefully they will withstand ice and tornados better..... both of which we seem to be blessed with in Oklahoma.

Poco those are great pix!

Last night when I was online we had power--then about 30 minutes after I signed off the power went out. I had the dread that we would be out for the duration becasue we live rather far out and figured they would likely restore power to the major city areas first before worrying about us out here. But, I called in the outage, and in about 30 minutes the power came back on ! OH JOY!!

After the May 3rd outbreak Cimmaron Electric went to a lot of the metal poles. They did not fare as well as they could have when the ice storm of "02 hit here.

Wish I had thought to get a couple of heads of cabage to keep the chickens entertained while the snow was on the ground. I will have to add that to my lists for next time.

I am bored silly! I have cleaned the bathrooms, vacumed & dusted and mopped the kitchen floor. Now what to do? Scrapbook maybe? Bake or cook something?
