I can't drive it now it just dies when trying to idle so it won't make it the 15 miles to town. Les I think it's a canister filter if Iam not mistaken, and I can hear the in tank fuel pump humming so it's pumping fuel.

Yep they are huge compared to the early filters, easy to spot. On a Ford they are just about the front of the bed. With dual tanks they are just under the back of the cab.
I agree with Les. Check your filter first. If you have some water in your lines then the filter will freeze some, not allowing the truck to get the proper amount of fuel required.
