checking in.... my pj, the cochin is becoming a house chicken for now, ordered her a diaper, this afternoon she decided to go out for a stroll, to the disgust of all the others who had just come in from freeranging and watched her from the pen- then she saunters back after having her fill of scratching and pecking...silly girl!

Les is the bomb when it comes to the meds and such...

I haven't many illnesses...I have had my share of killing though...four legged and gang related (bird gangs...very dangerous...the teenagers get bored and pick on the old guys)

The whole time growing up we had chickens and we NEVER had a sick bird. I didn't know they got sick. Then I started reading here and decided to try raising some again. You guys were always asking Les about this illness or that, and I thought what is wrong with all these peoples birds. Chickens don't get sick like that. Since I gotten these I've had wounded chickens in the house, I've learned how to give shots, I've even bought a saddle. I like the chickens I grew up with better.

If the birds you have were improperly line bred before they came to your house that could be the reason that they are unthrifty. Get with Cuban or Splitsocket 222 and get some birds that you can outcross with to strengthen your lines.

I know several of Jer-man's birds came from me... from eggs that I hatched from P&B. As far as I know, they were all mutts/crosses. I can't tell you how the remaining one is... that one was the one that my daughter's terror/terrier killed.

My drug of choice for water type medicating is LS-50 but it is pricey. About 30 dollars a bottle. It comes in dry powder form and you use 1 tablespoon per gallon of water and use that as a sole source of water for 7 days.

I get mine online form Smith's game bird supply out of Ks. because they offer overnight shipping and when you call them you actually talk to the owners of the company.

Well it has been a long day. DH is officially on his way to Virginia as of 6:30 this evening. The kids and I spent the evening at my grandparents' house. In case anyone was wondering, my grandma is doing great. She still has one tumor, but it is in remission. They removed the other with cyberknife treatment this week.

I was also curious about Blanchard tomorrow. Who is planning on going and what are you bringing? I am considering making my first auction appearance this weekend. I have to find something to do with Andrew being gone, otherwise I will go crazy.

Faerie here is a mounted Mad. Game that is in Northern France in a museum. I have spoken to the president of the German Malay club about it and the general view is that the Mad. Game is the parent stock to the NNs.

I would almost bet that some of the Vietnam Veterns have actually seen them in villages deep in the jungles.

I found out the co-op in Hugo sells the generic version of LS-50, in a pouch around $20 or so.
