And you had to go there.

Wasn't meant that way.

Fine, how about this? AL: you can have all of my share of crustaceans. I don't eat them and apparently you like them.

Ok, now who is going to provide the crane to lift up Cuban's mind?

Well the incubators are fired up!! And I just put 2 dozen eggs in and they should hatch on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
hu.gif
........ They really will ( I hope!!)
They was donated by one of the big chicken operations, I honestly can't remember which one.
We will be doing the poultry workshop next week and I really wanted the kids to see chicks hatch, so they was nice enough to donate eggs. So I only have to incubate from now until they hatch the first part of next week.
I am kinda stressed about the whole thing. I have 3 thermometers in the incubator and they all read different temps.

I calibrated them with the ice water and it worked BUT how to you check the top end?

John took Shaun to the doctor today and he he has pneumonia!! Poor kid!! I thought he was just trying to get out of chores!! JK!!
He is really wanting to help with the poultry workshop for the kids. he has even went to school sick so he don't miss to many days so he can go. I HATE it when he is sick, I hope he gets better fast!!

Al - where did you get fresh blue crab...I would so give you my first born...that or shoot you in the foot and make off like a bandit. We had a family friend growing up that was a crabber...he had a huge haul one time and prices just weren't quite right...his wife came home to find that their hot tub and pool had been converted into holding tanks! She wasn't happy but we got invited over to feast! One of my fondest memories as a child was catching escaping crabs from buckets before boiling! I had crab nets and such that we hung off of piers when we went fishng...you always hang your nets by the fish cleaning station. Those were the days

Roy : Yeah there is this really cool Filipino fresh fish market in Lawton, they get shipments on ice every friday all live or gilled & gutted fresh caught whole fish. Today I got that 20lbs of crab 3 super nice snappers whole and some 20/20's of shrimp. they have fresh muscles and clams and raw fresh Oysters, it's a great place. next month they start to get in the Crawfish by the 30lb bag live fresh, I have an order in already.

AL

Hi Everyone!
Well Al it sounds like you will have a lot of crackin to do. I am not a crustasian person even before I became a vegetarian.

Long John Silvers was about as close as I was ever comfortable to eating fish. I know

Got home today and went out to give the chickens their fruit newtons and one of the collapable pens had fallen over and crushed one of my favorelle hens. I am totally bummed and sad. This is the second day I have come home to a dead or dying chicken. Someone remind me why I have chickens again, cuz this sucks!

Ok I will quit whinning, seems like all I am doing lately. Looking forward to Blanchard auction next week. NACHOS!!!

Gerald & I just left the big town of Elgin ... had to have some of the famous all-you-can-eat catfish on Friday nights at Trivet's Restarurant.

We didn't see Jeannie or Jason or Al or Laura while we were there either. Oh, but we are full of fish.

We had our flock of birds tested today by the State. Two really nice ladies came to do the testing, and they stopped testing at 300 birds. We hadn't even gone to the other side of the barn yet
idunno.gif
Also, this tester told us that we had to have our incubator inspected, since we hatch eggs. Last year's inspector said we didn't need to have our incubator inspected, unless we wanted to be considered at hatchery ???? Gosh I wish my house wasn't so messy.

We sold my 2 favorite fainting billy goats today to one of Gerald's friends from work

Oh well, now I can look for a few more does

The information I picked up at the Dept of Ag indicated that if you have been in the NPIP program for 5 years or less, they test 100% of the birds, up to a maximum of 300 birds. After you have been in the program for 5-9 years, they test 50% of the birds or 100 birds maximum. The longer you are in the program, the smaller the number of birds they need to test each year.

If Carla is already getting lots of turkey eggs, I am jealous. I have yet to find a single turkey egg.

I have found a couple of guinea eggs though, so that is encouraging.
