Good to hear from you an hope thing's get better...Mayb we all can meet up at the sale let us no if you come down this way...

We have power again. The incubators got down to 83 degrees. I used a heat lamp on the eggs that are due to quickly warm them up. I had two that were pipped and still alive. I put them in some hot water so the babies weren't dry. I made sure the air hole was above water.

I decided that this was a perfect time to clean the hatcher out. I mean, what would an extra 2 minutes hurt. I did it while the eggs were under the heat lamp. I ended up tossing the Serama eggs and the Quail eggs. They were on day 24 and weren't doing anything. I also suspect that they were the reason the hatcher smelled bad.

Now the only problem is that I pulled a Roy moment and forgot to write down when my eggs were due. Actually, I could have sworn that I wrote it down and placed it next to the incubators. I guess that is the problem with 5 kids running around. Oh well, I guess I'll wait until I see some sort of sign that they are about ready. I have quail that should pip about a week before the chickens and turkey. As oson as the temps get back to normal, I am heading to bed. For some reason my body hates me. I have been getting up at 4 am and not going to bed until around 11 pm . . . . . . or later.

Question I am getting a fair hatch but some are not getting out of the shell. The inner lining like leather. I got the hatcher back at home now and another tray goes in Friday. My idea is she opened it up to much at the last of the hatch and dried them out.
Out of 72 eggs we only didn't get 10 and I open 6 that were still a live. Three made it three didn't. Four were never peeped.

My second question is when you put eggs or bird on auction here and have a reserve, where do you look at what you set the reserve for?
I forgot to write down the reserve.

I bought an owl also. The swivel head and all. It worked for a couple days. Then I lost 2 good birds in 2 days.

The owls are just decoration now.

Good Morning~ I missed that it was suppose to rain this morning, I have new chicks that are outside........I think they will be okay. I was too tired last night to go move them back inside.......

Can't wait to see the picture Cuban, I don't think I have ever seen one.....

where's the morning folks?

Not sure about your part of Oklahoma, but central Oklahoma has rain predicited on and off all week. Of course, anytime I move new chicks, the weather seems to make a drastic change - whether predicted or not. (wonder if that would work in the middle of the summer when I wouldn't mind a 20 degree drop in temperature at night?

I know you want to rid yourself of the critter, BUT, I have a friend that is the Park Naturalist for Beaver's Bend State Park north of Broken Bow. They keep a lot of wildlife there. Call his office and see if they would like to come pick it up. His name is Frank Griffith,

Good morning! I am mostly awake and getting ready to head to the office.
The heavy rain we had this morning about 5 am has moved East, so just maybe we will get a little bit of sunshine today. Hope springs eternal for sunshine

Are you on your second pot of coffee yet?

Robin - would you please check on the little girl and see if she is now home safely? I didn't see any Amber Alerts on the website last night, but don't know how often the website is updated. I am really hopeful that she missed her bus or went home with a friend without getting prior permission.
