It the way the chick develops in the egg and my turkey guy says watch and see if it one certain hen, if so retire her. Usually a large chick.
Tying the legs together works great and it just for four days.

Andrew shot an albino a few days ago also. It was the first time we had ever seen one. Luckily it wasn't at our house. So the birds were never in any danger.

We had a big brooder blew over and lost a few turkeys but got the rest under heat until could get brooder up right. That done now and they good. May lose a couple more do to injuries from being pen under parts of the brooder. Big limb just missed our trailer and thought trailer was going but the tie down were working. Clean will be going on for a day or two but we good.

Cuban - If you haven't destroyed the albino
racoon, call any large zoo in your area. They
will "buy" things like that for their exhibits !
Bill says he's only seen 1 his whole life.....
and that's been a while..........LOL

Woke up this morning to radar showing
a tornado right over our house.......
and Channel 8 ringing all three phones
off the hook with our phone call weather
warnings....................................
Got a couple of gusts of wind, a little
shower, and that's it. Sounds like
a lot of wind damage about 8 miles
north of us, but nothing here. Lucked
out again.

Have a good one !

We just got rain; not even much wind this time. Hope no one got much damage.

I've got silkie chicks hatching under Mom's but I'm bringing them in to brood--too many Moms in together. Looks like a few really nice ones and two are lavenders. Three of the Moms and one of the roos (this was a group that had hatched together and I just hadn't separated them) are lavender/black splits, so I hoped to get a few pure lavenders from them.

Put guinea eggs in the incubator three or four days ago. Gotta get my coops and pens built, but it's veeerrrry slow going now.

I would like everyone's opinion on something.

Sunday I bought 4 chickens from a guy on Craigslist. On the phone he claimed they were dominiques. We drive all the way out to Harrah and they are black sexlinks, but we took them anyway. We were told by folks on here they were sick, so we called the guy to take them back since they weren't really what we wanted, they were sick and we are limited on space.

He would not return our calls, but on a phone that he didn't know the number, he would answer. He still has a listing on Craigslist and I really fell like I should post a warning on Craigslist for people not to buy from him. He claims to be usda certifed and npip. It's just not right he is lying to people and selling sick birds.

We decided to keep them. One died this morning, we are hoping to nurse the others back to health.
