WOW! It's been quiet today. Since I've been away, there was only a page to catch up on. We look forward to seeing Grace & Garry and TJ's Crew at Eufaula Saturday and all of the other BYCers that come too.

Last bad storm, I told Corey about your experience June and the first thing she wanted to know was if your Seramas were okay. Glad you got to sit out this one.

Grace, I wasn't exactly happy to see the snake in the dark. Caught me by surprise. I had to search for the "special" shovel and I kept hearing the rooster squawking so I knew I had to move fast but I had to watch for any possible "friends" lurking around. Mean ole rooster is back to his old self today. Ungrateful!

I got some powder today at Tractor Supply that's supposed to keep snakes away. Has anyone ever used it?

Thanks everybody for the good fishing Ju-Ju it seemed to have worked, I had no idea this morning that the day was going to be such a nice one, sunshine low 80's no wind and the lake was fabulous. We caught 70 Hybrids and 20 or so Crappie all good sized. Here is some of what the day had in store for us, keep in mind we could only get half of the fish in the picture LOL.

AL

our live well is 20 gallons and couldn't hold them all so we put them on an 8' stringer, here they are resting in the water.

A hefty stringer for sure...........

ill testify to the rain down there, i just got back from my trip to durant and honobia, planned on gettin back yesterday morning after visitin family in bethel, thats when the rain started, finally slack up enough to get on the road with my birds this afternoon.

I was sadly disappointed in the sale at Durant, most folks said it was a light night, even if there had been what they usually have, according to them. I would have to say it would compare to a normal amount at Jim and Jerry's sale at Blanchard. i have heard many tales of this sale but saw nothing of it tuesday night. roosters were high, and hens were high, banties even higher than usual. accommodations were less then satisfactory, if i hadnt been there by 2:30 i would have had to park on the highway, chickens didnt sell until 8 o'clock or so. The barn was quite cramped for the people and chickens that were there, would hate to be there on a big night. If this sale is good for you folks thats fine thats your opinion im entitled to mine, and i wont be back. i am not trying to promote Jim and Jerry's, Rocking G, Fletcher, or Cement. But i will stick with these sales, they are good auctions that are growing, they have suited me for the last couple of years now, especially Jim and Jerry's since its local to me and easily accessible to all the local highways, Alex is also local, and I enjoy the drive to Cement and Fletcher and the people who attend these auctions.

Sherri,
It seams my biggest problem is limiting the number of birds I'm taking!

Especially since one pens' worth of valuable space will be taken up with rabbits!
Oh well, I'll take as many as I can fit but no matter how many birds I have I know I will still have a great time!

b52fizzle, sorry the Durant auction wasn't to your liking. It really was a low night, but it seams like you would have liked it less if there were more people and birds there

Anyway I was the one in the POOPS shirt

yeah i saw you went looking for you when i was finally able to have someone save me a seat. MikeD wanted me to tell you hello.

I got to the Durant sale late. Liz had a program going on at school. Sorry I missed you Grace. Fizzle, I would of loved to have said hello if I would of known you were there. The last two sales have been very low on birds. It's not unusual for the birds to be lined completely around the inside of the building. About two months ago, I didn't leave a couple of his sales until 4:30 or 5:00 am. The OEGB were going well below what they usually go for. Normal price for a nice pair is $20 a piece. Other chicken prices were pretty normal. John got to selling ALOT of outside stuff and I think it may have ran some people off. There was one sale in particular that didn't get to the adult birds until about 10:30. It really depends on the night what you might find. I like it because it's close but I can definitely see not driving a good distance for it.

Alright, now I have a VERY important request. I have been joking about the snakes at my house but it's serious. I just came inside after checking the chickens tonight. I found another chicken snake in the same pen. I bought the snake powder earlier and put around the pens. (I feel like I was sold snake oil.) I'm at a loss for what to do. I have outside dogs and cats. I'm killing every snake I see so I'm not seeing the same one. They are killing my chickens. I'm trying to stop it. What do I do? I was fibbing about the tutu. All you have to do is go around the chickens at night when it's 70 plus degrees and you will find snakes. I was in tears earlier. I get the heebee geebees just thinking about walking outside at night.

007,
I really don't have any advice..but "I smell what you're stepp'n in". We've got snakes around here but nothing like what you're talking about. We walk around here at night with a single shot 20ga...I think you might need something that holds more rounds. Good luck.
Bill

I want Corey & Liz to take as many as possible but I'm torn with the whole table top and needing more hands. They have enough OEGB to fill their own tables.

Corey wants to bring a friend or two which will help.

It's always fun when the BYC Show Crew meets up.
