I am trying to get everyone to gather around 2 pm today! So come join the wet okies.....

WE will probably have to have everyone inside.... Unless God Blesses us with sunshine after while....

Austin came running into the house and said there was a snake in the loafing shed where we are holding the chicks... He was going to grab his knife to kill it but I told him that wouldnt be wise unless we know what we are messing with. So I grabbed the nearest thing( a red rider BB Gun....lol) and went out there to where the snake was at... Sure enough there was a big ol thing coiled around the water with a belly full of something... Popped it a couple times in the head with the bb gun and then Jason came in and grabbed it ( by that time it was dying) cut open the belly and sure as crap there was one of my black Jersey Giant chicks...

Well may this Bull Snake Rest in Peace... and my poor chick

Suzi and Vern: Great to visit with you yesterday. I hope the hens do well for you. Houdini will get right under your feet, so watch out for her when you feed. Vern - Thanks for the burger. The Rock Cafe really does make a nice one. I'm partial to dark gravy, so the old fashioned burger with the gravy and fries is my favorite. John said he wishes he could have joined us. He wouldn't have ridden in the car with the birds, but he would have enjoyed visiting. I may have to have my little Matrix professionally cleaned and detailed before he will ride in it again. My chicken truck is still in OKC with John's parents, so when it's returned I'll be able to use my car as a car again.

Maribeth: The ducks settled in instantly. They were a little shy at first, but that didn't last long. I'm thrilled at how big they are! Thanks for the power feed. I'll be stocking up this week. I can see already that they are big eaters.

Chuck: The ducklings are adorable, a quiet bunch. They are in a big kiddie pool in the barn until they get more feathers. They like the chicken watering bucket, so I think I'll try the chicken feeder too. Maybe I can reduce waste if they can't throw their food around.

Rain forced me in, but it's stopped for a bit, so I'd better go take care of the last two pens. Have a great day, everyone.

Surgery went well for our 12 year old grandson and his bones are now reconnected with wires to that the bones can grow properly. Thank you for the warm thoughts and prayers. He will be in the hospital overnight, so Jaxon and I are hanging out together until tomorrow. Time to go see if there is anyone left at Mary's and then go get some more muscovy ducklings. Yes, Jaxon shares my addiction to acquiring "more"

Does this mean we will have male wet t shirt contests? for us ladies... HA HA Just Kidding

Poco,

Glad the ducks got settled in. They are probably the only ones actually "enjoying" the rain. It just started raining harder here and it looks like it has settled in for awhile. At least it lowers the temperatures.

I suggest Fabreeze to restore the "good" odors to your car - for some reason, I keep a can in the van

New Okie located in Slaughterville. New to chickens. Got my very first order or day old chicks at the 1st of February and followed it up with a second order two weeks later. I always tend to over-do it. If a little is great then alot has to be better, right? I now have 32 hens and 4 roos.
