Ok, so why do you kill bumble bees? I do not know much about bees but I have always protected and treasured the bumbles around my place. I did not even know they could sting. I have played with bumble bees, held them, let them climb on me and never been stung.
Actually I am a bit partial to the bumble bee, weird as that sounds for the very reason is they are a scientific miracle. Do you know that physicalogically speaking bumble bees should not be able to fly, due to the mass to wing size. Can bumble bees be relocated? If so I would be glad to relocate them out at my place. We need more bees for pollenation out here and fat bumbles are really cute.

A nest of bumble bees is very protective and when there are children and dogs that want to go close to the area of the nest, it is not a good combination. I don't know how you would relocate bumble bees, since they don't adhere to the same social rules of behavour as a honey bee, the nests of them are much smaller than that of honey bees (about 100 -200 bumble bees compared to thousands in a honey bee hive) and they don't "cling" to anything in the hive that is removable in an intact mass. I agree that bumble bees are cute and I like them also - a few at a time. They work my vitex bushes much more so than the honey bees, for whom I acquired the vitex. Unfortunately, I didn't get the variety of Vitex preferred by honey bees. It is only when bumble bees have a nest in an inconvenient place that I would consider irradicating them. I have no idea where all the bumble bees that work my Vitex, sleep at night - so they obviously have located themselves somewhere that doesn't place me at risk for massive stinging if I go near their nest.

He got off the ventalator today & is breathing on his own, he is still on alot of sedation but is trying to talk, please continue to pray for his recovery!!! PRAYERS ARE POWERFUL!

Great news Sooner,we will keep him in our prayers.

Boy its been a busy day, getting everything ready to go to Okla. Will be leaveing about 5 am. Got the yard mowed, berries picked, pool pump is working again. Birds are all fed,of course they will be fed and watered again before I leave. The chicks in the pigeon loft have a night lite so they mill around and eat all night! They are all feathering out and its neat to see what they are all going to be!Have a couple of pairs of the rare comets so I'm excited about them. The little OEGBs that have survived are all colors since I am crossing col, ors.

I planted some gourds to climb the pigeon flight pen. They are called "snake gourds" I believe. They are about 3-4 inches around and long and or curly. Boy have they grown! I have some hanging straight down and they are already almost 4 feet long! And only two weeks old. Its amasing to watch a bloom on alittle three inch baby grow at least 6-8 inches in a day or two. One came down ,hit a perch and is curling back up now. I will try and get pics when I get back.

DeAnn are you keeping that doc guy under control?lol. How are you two doing? We are heading to Ok.to take my daughter a Taco puppy this weekend. I guess you guys still have a bunch of chickens running around down there!

Gerald & I took off work tonight & decided to check out the Maud auction. We just left there after selling some veggies. Wow, prices sure seemed low on everything. I was shocked to see nice big pullets that had to be around 3-4 months old selling for only $3 each. Bunnies were selling for less than $2 each. Depressing.

I hope prices are better for the Blanchard auction on Saturday ... at least for those of us wanting to sell some birds.

On a brighter note, I'm getting excited that it's almost the weekend!!!! I'm looking forward to Blanchard on Saturday night to at least visit with some of our great Okies !!!!!
