Okies in the BYC The Original

Hi All!

Got in from Blanchard auction and have my new indian blue peafowl settled in for the night. She/he is wonderful and very sweet. The lady selling him said he is four months old which seems right considering his size. I got him for $25 which was a heck of a deal.

I was nice hanging out with the before mentioned BYC members Maribeth spoke of. Meet MMpoultryfarm and his daughter. Maribeth is so right that little girl is a real sweetheart. Did not get a chance to thank Lynn for the jelly and pickles,

can not wait to dip into both of those. Got a few deals on stuff I did not necessarily need but it was so cheap I could not pass it up.

Prices on the birds seemed to be a little up from last week but the selection was down. Jerry wants everyone to know that next month the auctions will start at 4pm.

Well I better get to bed. Right now I am so tired my head feels like it is going to explode. Plus if I stay up I am going to have to go love on my peacock and then I'll never get to bed.

Hope everyone has a good night and for all those of you who are traveling be safe. K?

Night!

We had a great time at Blanchard tonight. I unfortunately arrived very late, since I had to attend my mom's 74th birthday party. Fortunately, I was able to meet Matt, aka MMPoultry & visit with other fantastic Okies. Matt, your daughter is precious! I'm glad to meet you and wish you the best of luck in your business venture. We definitely have some birds needing processing.

My brain wasn't functioning too well at the auction ... it took me a while to recognize Lynn, aka Greybear and his family. Luckily I snagged some of his famous jellies and pickles at the auction!

Sorry I didn't get to visit with too many people and especially didn't get to visit long enough. We had a great time though, and can't wait to visit at the next great auction.

Gosh I hope I can get some sleep tonight ... I managed to get a poison ivy rash to pop up on my face, neck, ear and wrists. I sure hope my goats will eat all that poison ivy we have on our property

Whoo hoo we made it home from Blanchard about 30 minutes ago, I really enjoyed myself and My family had fun too, I bought a lot of stuff I didn't need and had to set with my hands in my armpits and my mouth clamped shut so I would not bid on stuff, Everything was going so cheap!!! Micheal thanks for the trades and I can't wait to get them settled in and maybe setting!!!! My wife bought me the beautiful Blue red Americauna roo that was with the six hens, and she got the most beautiful tri colored Doe Rabbit and was ecstatic!!!! Heather and Kota had fun and we are all really tired since we got up at six am and went to Keystone to Betsys and got guineas and met Coarl aka Pocco pollo, had a great visit with them, been a long day, thanks all for buying my jellies and pickles, now I need to get started on some new batches!!! Thanks, Lynn

I've also had a chick that was scalped, but she was only a few days old. I pulled as much together as I could--it went down her neck--and smeared it all with Neosporin. The entire back and top of her head was bare. They didn't get her eyes, ears, or comb, and skin eventually grew over the rest. She didn't ever get feathers on her head, though.

Wish I could make the auctions; they sound like so much fun--but they're just too far away for me.

Good Morning Okies~

Looks like everyone had fun at the auction! Glad everyone made it home safe & sound.

My little chick has made it through the night but doesn't seem to be eating or drinking anything......Gonna have to see if I can find somthing to tempt her/him.

Hey Kwartel - where in Oklahoma are you?

Morning Carah : Boy ........... sure sounds like they had some big fun last night at the sale barn, And Lynn brought jelly too, everybody drools over his jelly. I wanted to go and was all set to hit the road when Alyssa asked me if I wanted to go to starbucks with her for coffee, she has been down since the news and I am always looking for way's to spend quality time with her. I let her drive to town and we had a great time and her spirits seemed better and mine too, so I guess I made the right choice after all LOL.

I had a teenage pullet get scalped last month but she didn't fair very well I hope yours makes it. what ya got on tap for today ??. I may mow some and perhaps make some BBQ and a dip in the pool for good measure.

AL

MMP thanks for this post - it makes my heart happy to know that you met some of the very best people in the world and that you went home feeling like you belonged. The BYC Okies really are a most wonderful bunch. One of these days I'll have to make a trip to the Blanchard or Fletcher auction - waiting for the next POOPS to see my friends just won't do!!

Good morning Al - so glad you and Alyssa had coffee - you're a good dad.

I'm finally caught up on posts and now am late for getting ready for church, so I'll have to jump off again.

I found my sweet Buff Orp, Large Marge, dead by the waterer this morning. I carried her down to the burial spot and thanked God during the walk for letting me care for her, and for the gifts of eggs and sweetness and beauty she gave me in return. I asked Him to help me be a better caretaker to the creatures in my care. As I grasped her foot, it felt like I was holding the soft cool hand of a friend when I carried her body down the hill.
