Next time you think you might be exposed to poison ivy, wash with lye soap to help get the oils off. You might also try applying a mixture of 1 Tb Chlorox to 1 cup of water to help prevent and/or dry up any poison ivy.
Hi All! Ninja post- our daughter had the twins tonite, c-section, they were breach but all is well... Zoey and Elizabeth tipped the scales at just under 6 pounds each.... keep the family in prayer as everyone adjusts to these little ones.....

Yeah, it used to not do anything to me. You can become allergic to it if you are exposed to a lot of it...so don't be silly and go out there and start pulling it up barehanded because it doesn't do anything to you. (Don't ask me how I know this.)

I actually thought I'd practiced enough prevention when we were clearing a path to the other side of our creek ... I was wearing goves, a long sleeve shirt, boots, jeans .... and washed up afterward. I probably got exposed when petting the dogs & goats later in the day.
Yeah, I'm allergic to the stuff ... and Gerald was using the weedeater ... so he was chopping it up real good!

I'll have to try that ... gosh, if I'd have known I'd have rubbed a pizza on me at lunch today
I'd try just about anything to make the itch go away.

My coworker told me a story of a kid at a church camp ... the leaders told the boy to stay away from the poison ivy, but he said I'm not allergic, grabbed some of it and rubbed it all over his face. They had to take him to the hospital later that night.
