So I am in need of 2-3 buckeye hens and 1 buckeye rooster and one Show quality RiR Roo if anyone knows anybody. Also looking for any spare egg trays for incubators automatic turners or manual turners.

Good evening fellow chicken addicts. I have had a very busy day. I started off by getting the kids ready for school and on the bus. Once they were gone, I got myself ready for work. I left work with just enough time to get to the school for Girl Scouts. Then it was on to the PTO meeting. Now I am taking a break from cleaning the back yard before the floods hit. If we get what they are calling for our area, we will be lucky to have land in the chicken pen. The creek just may flood all the way up to the edge of their pen. Anyways on to the point of my post. While moving some tin behind the chicken pen, we unearthed a mole. I sat it in front of the birds and the silly things just looked at it. The really sad thing is that both of the cats did the same thing. Not a single animal of mine wants to dispose of the pest. So what would you guys suggest I do with it?

check w/sjarvis. they had a lot of egg holders for sale on craigslist last week.
ypu can also use the cardboard flats that eggs are sold in, but you need to modify them with your scissors to cut out some holes in the bottom corners of each egg place to allow for better air circulation.

I have a little cross bantam hen that is at least half silkie, because she has black comb and skin,.I keep her just because she is a good broody. This last hatch of hers was small and several others were too so I kept fostering more to her. I caounted today and she has 18 babies with her! And she hasn't lost a one. Its really funny seeing that many babies ganging around her.Sometimes mutts are worth more than the purebreds!

Been beautiful weather here but rain is comming in tonight. But not like what some of you OPkies are getting. Everyone stay safe a nd dry!

I actually thought about that.

I would be a little worried about it's claws and scratching my baby, but it is out of the question anyway. It is twice the size of the largest mouse that my snake has eaten.

Hi everyone,,

Been a whirly wind kinda day and I know its beginning to be Fall when candy corn is advertised as such and I can smell that sweet candy aroma as I buy a few bags and put them in a canning Jar for all to see.. h a ha ha

I wanted to also let some of you folks know (especially the ones in around this area of Elgin) that there have been a string of break ins and attempted break ins... Some but not all are including livestock thefts aka rustling or duffing. I dont know if its a string of different folks doing this or the same person just not getting caught but with it happening I am beginning to wonder if the MIA of half my duck population was apart of that(remember last month my concerns over a week of MIA ducks going MIA in a single night. I have been in talks with another OKIE that had their livestock dwindle in HUGE numbers over a few short days and as of late finding things amiss on their property when they come home from outings.

My main reasoning for this post is to let you all around here be aware of what is happening and to do what you can to secure not only your home but animals too. Another thing is to truly get to know your home and property that way when they do go missing there might be a chance they will show up at a auction...
Anyhow let us all be on the look out for each other and report anything out of the ordinary....

Yes I know animals can cause your livestock to go MIA too.. but not to forget there are folks out there still in the rustling business... which has no preference....
