Drat. I was looking forward to the tarantulas.

Glad you didn't get stranded somewhere though.

Also glad you were able to find a more local buyer for your birds. They will be less stressed that way.

Guess I will have to wait on the tarantulas. I don't plan on driving that direction anytime soon and our "regular" transportation from your direction to OKC doesn't "do spiders" so I will put out the word again that I am looking for one.

Thanks all - yes Al, that is the plot down the hill for the future garden, and there is plenty of drop for gravity to do all the work.

Good point Les - and thanks for reminding me - my plan was to have an air gap between the downspout and the tank, but the gutter guys didn't do it that way...they had a reason but I don't remember what it was. Anyway, Jack & I spent some time at Home Depot last night looknig at ways to address this issue.

great looking water collection system!!!!

When you think that a rainfall of only about 1.5 inches may fill both barrels, it is interesting to think about how many gallons of usable water get washed into storm drains.

Visited with Betsy and picked up 6 lovely little keets. They are sleeping in their brooder with heads pointed to the feeder. They look like a feathered starburst. I'm anxious to see their colors develop. The Coral Blues I got from Betsy a few weeks back are as big as kittens now, and their color is nearly florescent in low light. Next year our farm will have a walking rainbow that sounds like a traffic jam. I can't wait!

I was reading that the females almost never leave their burrow for very far and that the majority of the ones you see on the road and out wandering around are the males, Next week if you are going to the Fletcher auction keep an eye out for them when I was stationed at Ft. Sill I used to see them a lot on the roads in that part of the state. I'd bet you see a few on your drive home after the sale if it's at or after dark. I plan on going and Jiena might come with me so it will freak her out but if I see any I'll stop and collect you a couple, How many are you wanting? just in case I stumble across more than a couple LOL

I imagine that the no air gap reason was because excess water at the base of a foundation is bad, very, very bad. Just cut a hole in the side of the straight part just above the elbow on the bottom. Take a flexable extension and cut about a two inch slit in the corners of one end and flatten them to 90deg outwards. Drill and pop rivet over the hole in the side or just use self drilling screws to hold it in place. Oh and cut the hole smaller then the piece to be put on. Then you can add a little extra pipe to get it away from the foundation.

Two tarantulas should be plenty. Thank you!
