So where are you planning to pull them to?

You know in most states it is illegal to relocate predators! LOL

I have 3 brothers who are Texas A&M graduates, as is the nephew who is coming to visit me this weekend. He is so Aggie that he learned the Aggie fight song when he was 2 years old.

I can relate to the garden troubles. Our first summer here, 6 years ago, was quite mild - I know know. Everything grew great, unlimited tomatoes, snap peas, beats and more. This year was especially discouraging - I'm going to turn 1/2 the garden into a chicken pen.

Any of the BYCers in need of a feeder pig. I have a freind that has ten of them weighing from 20 to 50 lbs. These are out of show stock. Some are Berkshires and can not remember others he has. Price will be from 20 to 35 dollars each. Give me a call or text me. These are in Blanchard.

There will be some more pedigree Flemish Giants at the next sell. Trying to talk a pheasant raiser in bringing some red golden and lady amhurst into the next sale since the weather has changed. Will keep everyone updated.

Yeah, I've got a recently emptied quail pen out there right now. As soon as I finish their mini-coop, my OEGB Wheatens are going to move out into it. It's a big garden though, so my winter raised-bed building project is still a go.

she just stepped on its head and blood came out her foot had rubber boots so it slid off the head several times the second bird I requested to break its neck for my own reasons I am sure you know why. no blood drawn just killed and put into plastic bags.

well, i'm an outlaw & so am just trying to keep 4-6 hens. I got my first chicks from Ideal Hatchery last June and I ended up with four, one of each of Speckled Sussex, red sex-link, mille fleur d'uccle, and Ameraucana. I loved them and we all had so much fun with them. Unfortantely, something ate ALL of them, possibly even two different predators (the coop my neighbor was building wasn't finished & they vacationed in my children's unsecure playhouse) a few weeks ago. They were 14-15 weeks when they were eaten. Devastated. I hope they forgive me for practically feeding them to some feral creature. Living in the suburbiest of suburban places, it just doesn't seem that they should have been quite so vulnerable, but now I know.

So, I've ordered some eggs to hatch at home. Just bought a new Brinsea Eco Octagon incubator during the sale. I ordered eggs from Patty Nuth of Running Horse Farm, but since I coincidentally happened to be in D.C., I went & picked them up. She waaaaaayy gave me extras & I think I have near to 36 eggs!! If anyone wants fertile eggs after this Sunday, let me know!!

Since I can only have a few hens, I'm trying to make it count by choosing breeds that are maxing personality with beauty and productivity but are not super heavy or large. I hope to have an Appenzeller Spitzhauben, a Mille Fleur d'Uccle (sweetest birds), a bantam salmon faverolle, an Aracauna (coming in November from Ann at Sky Blue Egg), and am hoping to get my hands on a Black Copper Marans with REAL dark eggs, and a Welsummer. I want to raise them day-old chicks b/c I have a 4 and a 2 year old & need sweet, sweet birds, like our last Mille Fleur d'Uccle.

The extras I'll have from Patty are Buff Orpington, Blue Cochins, Red Cochins, Blue Polish, Mille Fleurs, Mottled Houdans, and Appenzeller Spitzhaubens if anyone is interested. If anyone has any terrific BCMs, let me know!
thanks!!!
glad to be here!!

Several years ago, when I had some birds test positive during the NPIP testing, Vickie drew vials of blood prior to putting the birds down and taking them in for testing.

Matt-- Just breath darlin....Thoughts have power.... try to keep everything as positive as you can right now....don't jump the gun just yet...You told me last night that they thought it was a cold...I would bet they are just making sure that everything is ok. like you said you have replacements in place right now and ready to go that have been segragated from the rest of the flocks. Just breath. This will be ok. Worse case scenario--if they do eradicate you will get payment to start over. You love birds to much to throw in the towel. Positive thoughts my friend leads to positive outcomes! Head up and fight this thing.

I was given the necropsy reports NN said bleeding to the trachea, he said that he would bet his money it was LT Vickie did good testing here she definatly does well I have no bad comments about her at all. I would like to see a more Professional way of euthanizing birds but everyone has there different methods. He explained to me how they would eradicate because the necropsy suggest 1 of the 3 I named. If its just culling my Q, Pen not a problem But if its full eradication he says I cant own anymore birds for 6 months till all test show clear.(assuming yard test) and there would not be reimbursment as Vickie stated.
I am doing my best with this and giving it to God, Personally I can rule out AI, Newcastle I have no idea LT test results should be here thurs, and the state doctor is comeing tomorrow with Vickie to swab Every bird on the yard or every group of birds 5 or so from each flock. then he is rushing the samples in person tostillwater to have them read so that he has definate anwsers by tomorrow afternoon as to if its AI or Newcastles
