Okies in the BYC The Original

I am not for sure what a parlor tumbler does,I know that in the flying birds the rollers flip backwards and drop at the same time, the tumblers flip backwards and rise at the same time!I'm getting tired of mine and am thinking about getting out of them. It's just hard having to keep them in small coops all the time.

MM - Pictures? We'd love to see them. I forgot to take pictures of my new OEGB today. Maybe I can do that tomorrow after work.

Sooner - You could ride the whole way with a pecan pie on your lap. Better yet, you could have a piece of pecan pie on the way there, just to be sure it's okay for the rest of the group. ... I know what you mean about not having the time. I'll see you at POOPS for sure.

I moved my two-month-old birds outside today. They wouldn't stay in their house when it got dark, so I double checked the hot wire and let them sleep outside. I hope I don't have a bunch of runny-nosed birds in the morning. I'm really pleased with the White Chantecler and Buff Chantecler chicks. They're not skittish, and they have an amazing undercoat of downy feathers. No wonder they do well in Canada. The Jersey Giants they're growing up with are larger, but don't seem as hardy. I can't make out the sex of any of the Chanteclers yet. They have minimal combs and wattles, and so far none have any color in them. Maybe by the end of next month they'll start to spar or try to crow. I'm anxious to know how many are pullets.

I have an empty seat in my Matrix for anyone in my neck-of-the-woods who wants to go to Fletcher for the auction/pot luck but can't go alone. If you're going and have a large vehicle and an empty seat, I'd be glad to help pay for gas. Let me know. I'm going to start cracking pecans on Thursday.

Sooner...my boys are just messes!

P&B - you are great

Okla - that is what I knew as well...but I am okay being silly...I hear you about the cages...I must confess that i let mine run with the other birds a bunch...besides...it is fun to have a bird flip out when you walk by! Plus it makes the ducks laugh

POCO can I say I am coming just to get the pie?? I so wish I could go, I would love to see my friends.......Considering we have a show next Sat & I think that is also when Wayne will be at the Brushy mt. acution, I will have to go there because it is so much closer & I will be able to still get some stuff done around here. Any chance you will go to Brushy if you don't get a rider for Fletcher?

I still think that raising boys is easier than raising girls.

I have to agree! At least to this point because I'm sure there is a whole lot more to come.

Are you going to Brushy Friday the 19th for the 7 p.m. poultry auction? I have only been to the Saturday afternoon auctions. If you're going Friday night, I'd love to go with you.

Good night all. I need to start a list of all the things that need to get done this week in order to get my birds sorted out for the winter, so that everyone will have sufficient shelter and so that I won't have so many different pens and cages in which to break ice when it gets nasty cold. The first thing on my list is to call the Dept of Agriculture tomorrow and get a new bottle of NPIP testing stuff so that I can move some mostyly grown birds out of the flight pen. The second thing is to try and figure out how to add an hour or two of time to each day, so I can get it all done and still get sufficient sleep.

Al - your pictures and explanation of the ravioli were a treat and a great reminder that most "good" food requires time to prepare it properly. Thanks for sharing.

I am waiting to see when OKla-doodle (Wayne) is going to be there. Once he knows I will let you know & we can car pool if you are interested.
