So exciting that Peaches and Doc have actually been spotted and visited with!
I had one silkie pullet that had a head injury. Her head ended up completely tucked under her breast and turned up so that she was "star gazing." I treated her just as you are, except that I didn't remove her from her small flock because no one was bothering her and I worried it would be too stressful for her. The were actually interacting gently with her. I'd think you about have to remove a roo! I also took her out a couple of times a day and force fed her feed moistened with a bit of water to make a "pellet" until I was sure she was eating on her own. She was able to get water on her own, but got completely soaked doing it--thank goodness it was summertime! As she improved a bit and quit walking backwards exclusively, I'd gently untangle her head and neck and place her beak in the feed trough at least twice a day-- she ate ravenously. It took two or three weeks, but she recovered completely. She became Annabelle's pride and joy, and won top prize in their show! She had no more problems when I had her, and I haven't heard of any since Annabelle has had her.
