One of my young ones that were born in Aug. has laid her first eggs or perhaps more than one of them have, and I discovered today that we have at least one olive egger! That may not mean much to some of you old timers but, since when I started with chickens back in April, I didn't even know it was possible to have more colors than white & brown unless you dyed them yourself, I am waaaaaay excited. I saw pics where someone had crossed a Maran and an EE and gotten some olive eggs and thought how cool it would be to get some nice dark olive green eggs, but I don't have any Marans and I don't breed or hatch my eggs, so this makes me waaaaay excited! I'm not sure why the Olive color attracted me more than blue or pink, but I just thought it was gorgeous.

Ok Michael here is a Photo of my family, they are of my Grandmother (2nd from left) and her brothers and sisters. Pic' was taken in Palermo Italy around the turn of the Century, during another family members wedding. The Tall guy on the far right is my great uncle Santo he was tall and my family always told me I took after him, because I am kinda tall.

too cute!!

I posted that just for you! My keyboard is wireless and the batteries stopped before I could write anything though. The original pic was taken this past spring in Tulsa at Utica Square, it was a red phone booth that I photoshopped to resemble the TARDIS.

I did have a good time and they made me eat like crazy LOL, it's an Italian thing

I actually drove there from Germany where I was stationed, the scenery was awesome going through the Italian alps, then putting the car on a ferry and go to the Island of Sicily. I don't want to drive in italy ever again

As a general rule, any particular hen tends to lay the same color of egg every day, so if you notice different shades of blue or green, then it is very likely that more than one hen is an EE and/or olive egger. I agree that the darker green eggs are way cool. Be sure to notice the inside shell next time you break one - the inside of the shell will be a shade of blue. Your brown eggs will have white on the inside of their shell.
