Pullets are Light. Wanting to breed for good colorization and size. Two of them have no black on their backs but they are the smallest ones. I do not know if they are the same ages, I know one is definately a little older than the others.

First since you are breeding the columbian pattern you need to decide if you want really good colored males or females. For females you will sacrifice some color in the male, in male breeding you will get dirty backed hens.
So Hens clean backed, 5 black primary feathers in each wing solid black, solid black tail primaries, black with white lacing on tail secondaries. You will loose saddle color in the male to get this hen.
You can place the light brahma male over the dark brahma hens, all th echicks will be light brahma and likely the best colored males are from this mating.

They lay different sizes P&B. Even in the same breed there is a varition. I usually figure 3 bantams for two big eggs. Seems to work for me.
I don't have a team. Wife is the sports nut of the family!I'm a football widower!

major disaster here, the house guinea took flight, and did a top gun by my head so close that her wing went over my head, and her side brushed my face, and landed on a full cup of coffee. what a mess. took an hour to pick up the pieces of the shelf she landed on, next to my chair where I normally place coffee, water, and whatever drink I have.

I keep hearing 'Danger Zone' in my head.

WE diffently have our roles switched! I figure since she is out working that she shouldn't have to do hoome things so I do all the house work,cooking,laundry,cleaning,shopping,etc. She works comes home crashes and watches the ball games! I usually sit and quilt or am on the computer.It seems to work for us so I guess thats all that matters.
Today I cleaned out the ditch by the drive,it was full of leaves,I put them in the coops for the chickens to scratch around in. They loved that. I also remembered that I put a whole bunch of green tomatoes in the freezer for them so I guess I will start thawing some of those out tomorrow. Wonder if piggy will like them. So far she only likes bread!(besides her pellets)

poor little guinea- she needs to be outside, but with the weather getting worse before it gets better, she's stuck in here till at least april- by then i am sure the others will accept her, they sit at the front door talking to her..hoping to have them coop trained before we let her out for good- should have heard the racket when she hit that cup!

Just a friendly reminder during these cold months and if you use a heater or a heat lamp...........make sure it is securely attached and safe,check it twice...... I opened my coop this morning to be met with billows of dense smoke

poor girls and boys were minutes away from being gone

my lamp had fallen into the coop floor covering and was smoldering

So please double check your heating tonight..... my hubbys couisn and my friend lost her entire home to fire last thursday so I am still quite shook up with heat/fire.....becareful all
