I tend to put out warm water just so the chickens get alittle warmth from it. I am usually not pouring it over ice so that might help.

It was crazy cold out there this morning hauling water to the one's that didn't have cookie tin heaters, maybe I can get those done tonight.

Hot water in water pipes and the freezer freeze faster. The pipes b/c the hot water pipes are smaller so they freeze faster, the water in them doesn't stay hot, not having a heating source in the pipe itself. The hot water in the freezer freezes faster b/c it warms the freezer compartment turning on the cold cycle quicker. If you place a hot pan of water out and a cold pan of water the cold one will freeze first.

Ok some of you breeders what would be the best starter book or website or maybe where did you start personally. There is so much information out there that I have a hard time trying to gather & retain it......

POCO, come spring I think I want to get into the Salmon Faverolles is this a breed you are still raising?? I also wanted to ask if they are slow maturing?? I am working up my wish list & I think I will be getting out of polish & into Faverolles.

Where is everyone today?? It's too cold to be outside playing with chickens.

Still snowing off and on here! Not a lot more accumulation. I will need to go out in a few and re-water everything.Took my aussie and went for a long walk. Need to get some exersize instead of being a couch potaoe in this cold. It was cold but enjoyable.

Ohh! I ahve found a link to get some "bantam" orloffs!

Sooner, what are you wanting to learn about?....find a forum or group that discusses whatever breed you are wanting to research...or a group that discusses hatching, or genetics, or whatever it is you're wanting to learn. That's a great, fun way, and things "stick" easier.

All I can say is Wow! How do you keep the grass so green? My grass is all brown.
