First picture is of a young asil, OEG cross stag. Second picture is of my Pure Brassyback Albany OEG roo. He is the most photogenic rooster I have ever owned. He acts like he is a chicken model LOL

love the second one! they really look raptorish-

spent the day working on grow out pens, heard a squeal and my silky girl met Captain the cochin, wonder what a silky/cochin looks like?? or a NN/cochin?

old*cowboy :

The picture I posted is of a stag only 11 months old. They should be a broad thick bird all the way from young up. But there are so many varities It is hard to say.

You cant know how close I was to buying that brassy back albany game cock, lol...

Sounds more like a 4 legged critter. A full grown duck is a reach for a hawk. But a coon or bob cat would have no problem with one. I hope you fine Poser alive and well.

So sorry to hear about Angel. Hooker's Hawk, Red-tailed hawk and Bald Eagle are capable of taking down a goose. All three are the biggest birds of prey.

I can see where an eagle can do that- i've learned a few lessons out of this though- first- is there any chance of poser just being broody? although the gander is being protective of the ducks, not poser- the first day poser went missing, i assumed she decided to go broody- late afternoon- the next day Angel, the drake disappears, i am assuming those are his feathers i found- both vanished about the same time of day- so now, the cluckers will have to be limited on their time out, and the quack gang will have to deal with being penned- should i include the gander too? i always assumed geese were fairly predator safe.....

i also read where ganders can have more than one female - say 1 - 3.... is that right?

Thanks Sooner.

It was a great day to be outside. Had one water gap that was really plugged with dead cedar trees, logs and leaf litter. We had to use a come-along to get the biggest cedar tree out. Once we get the tree out, I'm trying to carry the chain in one hand and the come-along in the other across our little creek and step into a hole up to my thighs and loose my balance. I'm soaked and all BIL can say is "Did you get the come-along wet?"...of course he is grinning ear-to-ear!

I have cochins and they are quite cold hardy - all those feathers. I have a couple that insist on sleeping on top of the coop every night. They only stayed in at night during the snow storm! The heat is more of a problem - they need shade in the summer.

and funny flowered hat's to wear when they are scratching for treats, it's all the rage in the run ya know heheheheheh. Sorry MJ I couldn't resist lol.

Robin it wasn't a hawk or an Owl. Really sounds like either Coyote, Fox, or Bobcat. All three are excellent climbers and jumpers.
