OkieChick57...
Thank you so much!
I was so excited to meet so many new people last night and can't wait until we can all get together again. I am already counting down to Cement!
I spread the word to everyone last night about this forum and about Chicken Stock! Most of the people I talked to were very excited about Chicken Stock, so I told them where to go for the details of how they can get involved.

PS OkieChick57 did you get those beautiful Astrolops settled in?

It is going to take me a few days to recover from being up so much, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything. My two new boys I got last night already have names! My mom called me this morning and thought it would be hilarious to name two Guinneas Michael and Sonny (the Godfather's kids).

So it stuck!

Well gotta go try to get some new pens built for those broodys.

Kaacres...... I let Paula take that huge roo home.and will take her my Australorp hens this week, she has a pen. I didnt want to dare take a chance on mixing him in with my buff orp roo or others.........so will just get eggs from her for now...........he is beautiful..cannot wait to see his offspring....... It was good to meet you girl.........

I think another good way of covering costs could be to print up some t-shirts with the OK chickenstock 2008 logo. I THINK you can get t-shirts printed for cheap, and then sell them for a profit. Just don't make it ridiculous like $35... more like $10 - $15 if that is doable and profitable.

Also, a documentary person should come and make something similar to "Okie Noodling." There needs to be a Miss Chickenstock and a lot of podunks to get people to buy it though haha. (Note this part is in jest and I don't think it will actually happen)

what is okie noodling, is that anything like catfish noodling?

:gig I like the Miss Chickenstock idea, that might be something we could incorperate into it for the 4-H kids like a Miss & Mr Chickenstock, and a Little miss & mr chickenstock for the younger ones we could do say like 3 age groups, making the younger group the Miss & Mr Peepstock, king and queen:D

and it would not have to just be 4-H kids but any who wanted to be in it. Say we make sign up for that morning and hold two runs per group and then crown them in the late afternoon or early evening. How does that sound to ya'll let me know. As far as the Place and Date I will know for sure on that by this Thursday no later as for the barn at the fair grounds. For a back up plan for a place just in case, I am looking at a show barn in Heavener, Oklahoma, just out side of Poteau, just in case the fair barn is unabtainable for the date we want. But as I said I will know by Thursday and I will post the place and date by this Friday and no later than this Saturday. Folks things are moving right along for Chickenstock 2008!

Starting Saturday I will need to start collecting names for all the Contests and also the main show, I will post a list of all the contests being held and for the main show, and you may either pm me or post as to what you want to enter. It sounds like we may have quite alot of folks in the shows to lets say we make an entry fee of $2.00 and we will have a First second and third place, moneys going to first along with a trophie, ribbons for 2nd and 3rd, and also have a youth devision part with the same. Should we break the show up into breed cats, like at a regular show or just make it all one open show? Also we will need someone to judge so if anyone knows someone who would like to voleenter their time, or if you know how to ( cause i sure don't) please let me know. Also we might need coops I will see what I can come up with but we might need someone help in that area also.
Well folks I covered all that I can think of right at the moment, so get togather and then let me know what ya'll think.

If ya'll have any requests or questions, suggestions, whatever don't be afraid to ask, suggest, or request as I want everyone coming to enjoy themsleves. Thanks everyone!

Ohhh "Okie Noodling" is a documentary about catfish noodling yeah. It's got some... "characters" in it... You should check it out. It's a bunch of people that are quite hickish noodling and losing their lives and fingers (beavers and such), all for the love of the game. There's an Okie Noodling Tournament every year and they elect and crown a Miss Okie Noodling. I think this is pretty much what happens. It's been a while since I've seen it though.

I just got the 'bestest' idea! In a magazine called Backyard Poultry (www.backyardpoultrymag.com), you can advertise upcoming poultry events for free (I think...) Anyway, Mawchickkidie, when you come up with a time, date, and place, you can email them with the information and see if they would publish it!

Grace wanderful idea, ehurt that also a good idea but I wouldn't even know where to began, on how to do something like that or find someone who would want to do it. But thanks.
