oklahoma city zoning - busted for my chickens!

yes, but there is the including but not limited to in there. meaning they'll take away almost any sort of animal you wish to own - ooooh you should use that. and then call the police on your neighbors dog for revenge...

hah, yes, peacocks!

i'm going to do the petition thing around my house/area. i'm sure i'll end up figuring out who called. i wonder if they'll just sign, not wanting me to know it was them. personally, i don't think i should even have to get approval from my neighbors, so long as the coop is 20-25 feet from their house (like most cities). i mean, they don't have to ask me before they bring home three big dogs that bark all day and a cat that sits in my driveway every day.

like i said before, i dont think you can raise animals, although they didnt list peacocks and such, it also says these include but are not limited to, so you could get in trouble just the same. i would hide my chickens and then get them back once this was all over... but thats just me

well, if a neighbor reported me, then they might just report me again. i could get a fine ($160-500) each time i get the zoning violation sticker on my door.

This is just my opinion but Id fight it as long as I could. I would buy as many quail as I could and Id go adopt a dog that never stopped barking, 2 can play that game!!! Nosy people, thats what wrong people have no life of thier own so they have to interfere in yours.

I was reading a magazine one day and they were talking about human animal bonds and if you can prove there is a bond ie people hear you talk about them, have names, spend time with them you can prove they are a pet. then not livestock. Banties are not any louder or messier than a large parrot. Sorry I don't know what magazine it was in we get so many vet journals at work I can't keep track of them all. Good LUck

starting to be contacted by people online, getting a lot of support. it's also been suggested that specific local publications might be interested in helping.

hey, SeaChick! some of my friends were posting "give peeps a chance" and i saw that on your website. would you be ok with me using that phrase, too?

Hello,Sorry to hear about your plight. I saw where others have offered to help board your chickens. I live near Choctaw, (technically OKC) on five acres. I am filled up with chickens right now and don't have any space to offer, but I might later on. Fight the good fight! I am behind you.
