Oklahoma Ice Storm *pics*

Hi Cammie.....yea it has been a long long day here........so many still without power though .....I am going to have to pass on the ducks............until I get another coop.....if this one makes it through this ice it will be a miracle .......thanks for thinking of me......

I just wanted to say that my thoughts and prayers are going out to everyone that is dealing with the ice storms. I hope you are all doing ok.

Okiechic, I'm so glad that a tree didn't hit your house and that your electricity is back on. So sorry to hear about the High School.

Countryroad, I hope your grandma gets her electricity on soon.

I know how it feels. It hit us hard last year. We had so many beautiful mature trees damaged by the ice. It was horrible to hear big limbs falling all over the yard, breaking from the weight of the ice. We had one tree fall over with the roots uplifting. I think our electricity was out for over a week.

They keep predicting ice storms here, but they have managed to just miss us each time. It's just been cold, drizzly rain. I would much rather have the snow anyday.

Stay warm!
Kim

Yes it is pretty isnt it. This pic is one looking down my driveway to my house. We USED to be able to see the house...

We had to go look for our new calf earlier today. It was very scary going through the trees and listening to others break close by. The calf ended up being right behind my house, sneaky little bugger.

My grandma's a tough old lady *ha* She was a farmer's wife, she's survived just about everything I think. I offered to go get her, our roads aren't that bad. But she's got a propane heater, and has let all of her pets inside with her (minus the lone guinea.)

She doesn't seem to mind at all.

The sycamore tree in my first picture is one that her husband (my grandpa) planted the year that I was born. My parents have pictures and videos of me climbing it when I was younger. Funny since I'm too scared to put Christmas lights on the house now... I grew up with that tree.

Hey, Just checking in to see how things are there today. Looks like the ice storms are all over the midwest. I know there are a ton of power outages in Missouri and some in Illinois.

We have a dense heavy fog here, but the ice missed us again. it's weird, but I'm thankful. They keep predicting it, but we barely escape it. We're right on the edge of all the storms. it's a wet mess outside. I know it's a matter of time before we'll get zapped.

Countyroad, it sounds like your grandma is an indepentent interesting chatacter. So glad to hear that she has propane heat.

Okiechick & Countyroad how are your critters holding up in this winter wonderland weather?

Take care,
Kim

Mine are all huddled in and under the henhouse inside the run..... mad I would not let them out this morning,,,,they would be ice skatin if I did.....ducks have an iced over tree laying over the fence but it hasnt broke down yet so hoping it wont..the coops roof is down about 10 inches due to a tree or two laying on top of it.praying it holds......all are fine ,wet and cold but fine thank goodness
