Oklahoma Ice Storm

I'm in Carthage, but people in Joplin, Webb City, Purcell, Jasper, and Lamar are just some that got hit really hard last week. I was right on the line of it, anyone NW of here got it a lot worse than we did. We do have our share of downed power lines, but I have not lost power yet. Thank God for that. We were bracing for this round of 5 - 11 inches
( weather was predicting that for my location), but have only gotten about 2. Just a lite dusting coming down now. Just checked on the girls and guys, 8 eggs tonight. Yeah they are still laying. 5 were still outside the coop even though it is dark, had an awful time getting them back inside. Threatened Claude with his life, but finally was able to grab him, he tried to peck, and I threatened him again with the stewpot. Even my baby was being stubborn tonight. Maybe the hallogen light on the outside of the coop was not such a good idea.

Hello everyone! I am back on line. Our power came back on today. Power went out last Sunday so we had six days without power.
I just want to say thank you to everyone for their concern and prayers. Especially Okiechick. She loaned me a generator which helped me get some things done around here during the down time.
We spent four nights in a motel, mainly due to helping take care of my mom-in-law.
I lost lots and lots and lots of trees. Our drive is about 150 to 200 yards long and it was all tree lined. We lost all or part of every tree along the drive. It will be interesting to see how the ones that just lost limbs will bounce back.
My chicken pen is covered with limbs but it never collapsed.
I lost a hen and a pullet, one to the cold and the other when we brought it in to warm it up and our dog somehow got to her and killed her. My fault for not having her in a better place.
If I figure out how to post pics I will put some on here.
Thanks everyone again for your concerns,
Monty

Your trees should bounce back. Might take more than a year to do so but they will. You may have to trim any branches that look damaged. We took down a lot of trees that were close to the drive. Our driveway is 3/10ths of a mile long through the woods and if not maintained the tops, heavy with snow or ice bend down over the drive and make it impassable. Let us know how they do.

Hey buckguy so glad to see you back I have been wanting to update I have 15 dancing little embryos right now 2 of the crosses and 3 of the welsummers did not develope but the others dance all over when I candle.

Buck, hope your all done with the work invovled in getting things back to normal..........aside from all the tree work that is...... never did hear from my friend without power........I will call you when I know

I have hardly started. We had our Christmas Musical at church yesterday and I was involved in that for most of the day and night so I didn't make much progress here.
We were having trouble with the dishwasher before the storm and I had been doing all the dishes by hand. There are so many in the sink now I will never get them all done by hand. I am gonna try to get someone out today to look at it. I just got Jared to school but I needed some chicken talk time before facing everything. I will have to get someone to help me load the generator and as soon as I do I will get it back to you. Thanks again.
Have a blessed day.
