Dominique is the breed the pattern of color is barred not "dominique".
Barring is a wide range of patterns.
Do you have a American Standard of Perfection handy? If so, read the definition for Barring.
Barring is a term for a wide array of patterns including Barring as on the Barred Rocks, Cuckoo pattern, Crele, Penciling as in the Hamburg etc.
In the days of old most all "Barred" breeds were called a Dominique pattern fowl.

It wouldn't make sense to call them "Dominique Dominiques".
Do you know where I can see pictures of Dominique Leghorns, Dominique Spanish, and Dominique Italians? Other than Games, I've never heard anyone refer to another breed or variety as "dominique". They're either described as cuckoo, or barred, as in Barred Leghorn or if they're referring to a color other than traditional black/white, like Lemon barred, Orange barred. I know Crele is a barred, multi colored colored variety, but I don't remember hearing anyone refer to them as being "Crele Dominiques". Is it common among game breeders?
(sorry about the typos, DD just brought in twin does, born about 10 minutes ago, and I was distracted)
The term Dominique in the past and some what now has referred to a pattern with "barring" in it. It could be Barred, Crele, Cuckoo it doesn't matter. A lot of Old Timers still refer to Barred Rocks as Dominiques do to there feather pattern was considered a Dominique pattern.
I plan to start on Hollands this spring. Trying really hard to find birds from someplace other than a hatchery but not having any luck. I think the White Holland is extinct and Barred are the only ones left. Anyone have any input on Hollands??
here is the link to the RIW illustrations that will be in the 2010 APA SOP. If you "go back the Standard" on the artists page you will see all the other new illustrations.

Leghorns --
In America and Denmark the Cuckoos are known as Dominique Leghorns, and from this one might be led to believe that at some time or the other the Dominique had been mixed with the Leghorn, but there has been little sign of the Dominique in the structure of the Cuckoo Leghorn since I first knew it, and that was shortly after it made its appearance in this country. One can therefore only come to the conclusion that the title Dominique has been applied to it because of its resemblance in colour and marking to the Dominique fowl. http://www.theleghornclub.com/TextCuckoo.htm
