I didn't have to train this dog with the chickens. Automatically a protector of them. He HATES other dogs and cats, so I was nervous. He has protected and guarded for a full year and I have no doubt in my mind that he would not touch a feather on their fluffy butts. I've even seen the chickens take over a plate of leftovers and him just back away.

He is the best dog I've ever had. Turely.. I've had my fair share. I love how he is both a little dog and a big dog all wrapped up in one package. He weighs 35 pounds, and he runs just as fast as a lab. We were hoping to put him in agility, but he is 8, and gets sore if we run him too much.
Farmerboy - Just don't let your dog join your outdoor picnic. I've seen Chloe pick up chicken crap and eat it while I was enjoying a nice lunch.

I do not encourage this, this comes naturally to them. I do not handle these guys. There are 19 and all are naturally curious. Should I prevent their mother from brooding because she doesn't scream and attack me when I enter the pen? No way! She is a wonderful mother! She protects them from what they need protection from. Not from the bringer of food.
