Exactly, my spot is a great guy the other pair? ahem we refer to them as dumb and dumber they actually are nice drakes but they beat each other up, pick on spot and then just act A-ok.. in other words a bucket of trouble rolled into some feathers.

Quackers and Miss L adorable pics.

We have had a stressful last week and a 1/2 personally and once again chilled on the back deck and watched Penelope and her lil ones swim around. Melts the troubles right away! Cute lil buggers.

Thank you! sorry it's been so stressful! We joke around here the babies are so cute, it's sickening everything they do is cute, oh it stretched.. awww.. oh it sat down.. awww.. good grief.

Okay Quackers, since you have Muscovy tell me what your opinion is of our 6 wk old? Feathers coming in and I can even see some green on it's back some. I cannot remember how far along my duckling[drake] was last year at this age. Need to go study pics. lol

It's such a dice roll... I don't like how big it's actual foot is peeking out there in the last shot.. er.. not that there is anything wrong with it's foot! adorable baby but i mean for a girl.. they just don't have BIG feet well, not like those boys.

I just found a pic of my first 4 exactly one year ago.. they were about 4wks old, the one with the black spot on the head is 'spot' lol my oldest drake.. This group contained 50-50 ...

Found a shot of a 6wk'er, the one closest to that ramp.. definitely one of my drakes... look at those stumps lol

Older pic of the birds from the same group.. aprox 2mths

anyhow, no clue if that helps lol

We have babies!!

Our black female, Quackers, has been sitting on 11 eggs very patiently. Today I took the dogs out and when glancing in her pen saw a little black duckling run up and over her! We counted five or six and one was hatching as we watched!

Couple of questions--she shared a pen with her mate, Frick, and a female call duck named Dudley. I moved Frick out for now even though he was ignoring her and the babies. Is it safe for him to be in with Mama and babies or is it better for him to be a bachelor for a little while? Also, Dudley is tiny and gentle...and she has a clutch she's building. Is it safe for her to be in with Mama and babies?

Thanks!

Mama may try to fight with Dudley if quarters are close. They are so protective of their babies.. so just keep an eye on them, plus my mama wanted to sit on other ducks eggs after she hatched her ducklings so watch that too. Mama would go in and have her ducklings and someone elses eggs under her, She finally got over the broody part though. Probably a good idea to keep papa out for now, My drakes did really well with the mamas and ducklings but they all free range so they are never completely closed up with them. Okay Congrats on your hatching thats going on can't wait to see pics..

LOL.. it's super hard.. you got a pic of the babe standing?
Every time I go to get a pic of babe he is either walkiing or just laying down. It's pouring rain right now will try to get one later.. Today it was so sweet he and younger babe are now hanging out together.. So maybe if we do have a boy and hopefully a girl they will be bonded. My Opie who hatched last year has 3 girls and doesn't even try to mate with Ernies 4. and I haven't seen Ernie mating with Opies girls either. But I am not outside all the time so maybe there is some hanky panky going on I am not aware of. LOL Then we throw Sammy the gander into the mix, well ha hates Opies girls because he hates Opie[he is scared of Opie] but he does mate with Ernie girls[Ernie is respectful of Sammy] Sounds like a soap opera doesn't it.
