Oldest Chickens

My oldest chicken is named Combs (for her lack there of) she is ten years old. She is pretty much the leader and is the top boss lady of all of mine. She has her moments where she seems aged beyond time and has health scares but is overall fairly healthy and my baby girl. Anyways do any of you also have ancient birds? How old is your oldest chicken?

my oldest chicken is 5 yrs old. you must take really good care of that hen for her to live that long!

Wow! Combs is really old! My oldest hens right now are 4 years old. They are the very first chickens I bought. Hopefully they'll all get to be as old as yours!

Bantam black cochin age 11. That Bitty birdy still lays the occasional egg even. She is a super good mum.

I really do. Her sister/best friend passed away in jan. She's the last of the originals now , 5 years is a good age too lol

She’s stopped laying right? I have two four year old brahmas that still lay reliably. They are good girls.

Wow 11! Mine lays eggs too every now and again. Does yours also get broody when she lays? That's what Combs does. I think its a hormones thing

That's really old! She looks so happy with her babies.

I just got two bantam cochin chicks because I heard they live pretty long. They're 5 weeks old now.

She tends to be broody over and over all summer long unless I give her chicks. With her age I don't want her sitting all summer so she gets chicks to get her off the nest and back to eating. She is SUPER tiny even for a bantam cochin.
