OMG!!! First Game Cam pic ever. Huge Funny thread

Wow, this is getting even better!!

This is some debate, photochopping duel. I am really enjoying the many opinions. I hope the OP gets another pic to settle this once and for all. But then again it is amusing to have this thread going on. I have not made a decision one way or another because I'm not sure yet. Someone here will eventually convince me whether it is a house cat or mountain lion. Now I want to 'hear' the dueling banjos.

Atleast 5 pages! I have to say some of you have great photo croping skills. I have laughed so hard this morning I woke up my kids. I love the random animals unicorn etc, that is what did it for me.

I am still am pulling for something a lot bigger then Mr. House Kitty. I am sticking with young mountain lion.

Um....

It was quite apparent, after lining up the photos, that the OP was quite clever and knew her backyard very well. She posed her orange kitty on the very same rock the night visitor was stepping onto. Sorry that that is not very apparent in my mosh-up, but it was clear to me when I fade the opacity of the layers in and out in PhotoShop. So the two are equidistant from the camera in my composite.

Further, both animals are seen in a three-quarters view - one towards the camera, one away from the camera. So that can't be used as an excuse for one looking much bigger. In fact, it is the night cat that is facing away from the camera and should look slightly smaller than it actually is (at least its head end) and the orange kitty's head should be closer and look bigger.

Looks to me like the orange kitty only comes up to the turn of the shoulder of the night visitor. Maybe not big enough for a cougar (I'll let others decide), but certainly too big for even the biggest domestic cat.

Not really. Notice that Kitty #1 has it's left hind foot on top of the oval rock. This oval rock is behind kitty #2, It's foot is on the ground. So #2 is lower in the shot, making it appear to be shorter.

nice kitty kitty............
wow ... kitty #2 is way smaller then #1, if you compare size of cat to the size of the chairs the are next to, its a fair amount of differance.
being in the colorado mountains tho i can say 100% that it is NOT a cougar or mountainlion. though i would guess your area does have large wild cats ( not ferrel cats different) they are bigar than house cats but smaller then bobcats and lynx, usualy they are a redish brown color. not sure what they are actualy called tho.
i just found out that one of my moms neighbers just lost all their chickens to a montainlion a few weeks ago, it broke into the coop.

Must be time for me to chime in again. I did measure the diameter of the tree for you: 9.12 inches. The distance from the tree to the rock that the night cat's back foot is resting on is 8 inches. The distance from the tree to where the night cat is actually putting his weight, and where I tried to place my cat is 14 inches. Those 2 rocks are a foot apart. It is the stance of that night cat - far larger than any domestic cat I've seen - that makes me still think it is a wild cat.

Sorry no more kitty pics - but here is last night's pic anyhow.

(Blah! Did it again - still not seeing image, just link. Anyone want to clue me in via message as to how to fix that, I'd be thankful.)
