Help, I bought a bag of whole oats from a near by feed store on my way home from my lake. It was dark when I got home and I woke up the girls and tossed in a few cups of oats they ate most of it. Mind that it was dark. This morning I was putting the bag of oats in the shed, and I saw this warning label "Raxil thoram flowable fungicide treated, do not feed to animals or plant in a area that animals have excass to untill 30 days from planting" I started freaking out!!! I asked for feeding oats!!!! And I said they were treats for chickens. I noticed that the girls were kinda slugish today!!!!! Help ~Bryan

May be a call to a vet to see if there is anything that you should do. Also, I would go back to the feed store, find the owner and let him know that if there are any vet bills or chicken that die he will be getting the bills accordingly.

Yea it was a sealed bag. Dose anyone have any info on Raxil thoram flowable fungicide? I hope my girls are ok. What can I do to flush the posion outa them?

Googled for information and the product is produced by Bayer. There is an 800# 1-866-99-BAYER or you can email and get answer in 24 hours. Google Raxil Thiram and go to their contact page.

Hope that helps

Definitely call the feedstore. GRRRRRRRR I hate stupid feed store workers. They don't realize that a mistake like that kills animals.

Bayer's emergency number for ingestion: 1-800-334-7577

Posting this now - about to edit so this will change.
MSDS sheet (so you know exactly what's in it: http://www.agrian.com/pdfs/Raxil-Thiram_Flowable_Fungicide_(09262006)_MSDS.pdf

For
humans "Ingestion
Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Rinse out mouth and give
water in small sips to drink. DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by
a physician or poison control center. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Do not leave victim unattended."

Please, please keep us updated.
That is terrible!
I would get them to the vet with the label from the feed bag.
I would have someones ............!
Bayer should be able to give you info on any type of animal or person needing medical attention from their product.
Good Luck.

That's two people on our board who have been horribly mislead by feed store clerks today. The other was given a terramycin dosage that was 10x's the normal strength. Basically she was given a poultry-house package at 102g per package and told the 10g per package dosage.

We're our chickens' only advocates, and the feed store guys might be the greatest people ever - but they aren't thinking with all their hearts about our birds when they dispense advice. Always always always double check every package/bag you get from them.

I say this, and I STILL come home with bags of the wrong stuff if I don't check every bag. I start to feel guilty about being some feedstore-customer-harpy, and then I stop looking. Inevitably even at my really awesome feedstore I'll get something sent home wrong.

They also don't look out for your feed's quality - so always check the quality of the bag as they load as well. Don't let them send you home with taped bags, etc. Always read the labels.

I'm so sorry you had to learn this lesson this way. I hope your birds are ok.
