I think you have it backward, this is in you mind & not your stomache. I think Baldie makes a good point about it being fine for her when someone else makes the chicken. When you are the one who prepares the chicken you have lots of time to think about what has happened to you in the past. This all gets mentally built up in your mind & by dinner time there is no going back to the "I love to eat chicken" thoughts. What a good excuse for making your husband cook more! I'm sure he would rather do the cooking than pay for all that expensive professional therapy!

sorry kurt... I'm old and set in my ways, been brought up that way with eggs, and my entire family does the same thing, guess other people do too

so w/out revisiting the egg situation..

has anyone ever gotten over whatever their sudden thing is?

ETA: Nope - Its not about me cooking it either, hubby can cook it or someone else can - and I very rarely will eat chicken someone else cooks - if its a chicken tender, like in my salad the other night.. I make sure its cooked, like DRIED OUT, before I eat it. Even bigger aversion to eating restaurant chicken after I got a raw piece...never again. If its not deep fried and off a bone, I wont touch it.

We have a rotissiere too...and the grill, it just doesnt seem to matter who cooks it, my stomach just lurches at it

Choked on a pineapple sourball candy as a child. If I hadn't crashed to my knees in the grass I wouldn't be here now. I was outside and away from everyone. Took me 30 years to get over gagging whenever I tasted pineapple in candy. Fresh or canned pineapple was fine, only hard candy made me gag.

Got over it when starving one afternoon and had 3 white candies left in a pack of Lifesavers. Had to remind myself "They have holes, you can't choke. They have holes, you can't choke." Still don't enjoy pineapple candies but I can eat them now. I just usually choose not too.

I can't get over my intense dislike of bell peppers though. Even food cooked WITH the peppers makes me gag. I can taste the pepper for hours later if I force myself to eat food cooked with peppers, and get terrible indigestion.
