OMG!!! The girls are pooping roundworms!!!!! Help!!!

Thanks everyone! You (and the info) are amazing!
So today I start day 5 of Corid and the afternoon marks day 3 to give the safeguard liquid.

The one I am most worried about is still popping worms and a touch of stringy bright red material/chunks for seven straight days (hence my thought on Corid - but could be worm damage). I will try to find a sample this morning and take a picture. I am planning to give her some aspirin water tonight to take any inflammation down. She has seemed in good spirits but her (and two others all green and blue layers) have not laid an egg in two weeks (I first thought there was day light hours causing theM to drop off). Only my buff is laying eggs through this. With the meds, we will do a 10 day withdrawal but I am reserving her eggs and will feed them back to the girls tonight to give them some protein.

I am an hour from from a vet and work during the day. So I need to find a way to figure this out or get her to hold on until Friday night when I can get her to the vet.

Thoughts on the bright red stuff? They are all just 10 months old

Correction I meant 14 day withdrawal. I am also doing the liquid safeguard for goats. But I did notice that you mentioned take safeguard for 5 straight days and repeat again in 10 days. I thought I read somewhere it's five straight only one time. Or are we just doing a double five day plan due to the large number of worms?

Repeat in 10days if I understand correctly.

Don't feed the eggs back to the chickens, throw them away. If you shouldn't eat them, then they shouldn't

The bright red stuff, can you post photos of the poop. Promise you won't gross us out

I would suspect it is intestinal shedding, but would like to take a look (@casportpony would too, I'm sure).

Is she lethargic? Eating/drinking? You mention you need her to hang on until Friday so you can get to the vet. Is she having other trouble besides pooping the worms?

Here is the pictures from this morning... You will need to click on the pick and zoom in to see the details

This is from one of the blue egg layers. They all let loose a ton of worms this morning. (And that was just one girl of the four!!!!). (So grossed out I want to scrubb everything!!!! If only I could figure out how to make that vomiting face)

Here is the poop from the green egg layer.... There were bits of red chunks. (Note was a soft round form until I went digging to find the chunks.)

This evening I went to check on them and the green layer laid a solid poo and the blue started dropping the chunk of red (it was thick long and stringy). Sorry no camera at the time. The blue seemed fine, and the green came out and ate some grass by the light, but could not tell how she was.

Yep, those are worms for sure! The red looks like intestinal shedding to me, Kathy may have another idea.

Continue to do what you are doing. Hopefully they will be expelled soon and they will get back to their normal selves soon. Make sure they are drinking plenty of water and eating their normal food. After you finish all the worm treatments offer them vitamins and probiotics.

Keep us posted on their progress and let us know if you girl gets to feeling better.

Kathy- what are your thoughts on the red stuff? Blood or shredded lining?

(So grossed out on the worms!!!!!). This infestation was nasty! I am going to have to treat them 3 times a year I fear to stay on top of it. If there is anything I can do to my back yard to get this under control? I will do it!

On a side note--- I think I read on one of the links above that slugs can be an indirect form of spreading it? Late this summer I found 15 slugs on the outside of the coop at night. The had been sneaking in through a crack and sliming the food. I wonder if the girls might have picked it up that way???

The red stuff does look like intestinal lining, which many people say is normal, but I still say it's not normal.

So we are going on day 6 of lining being found (between the blue and green layers). Does this go away on its on or do I grab the girls and head to the vet? Hoping to see how the green is doing in the morning...

And you did five days of Safeguard?
