Can chickens eat raw meat?

The bugs, rodents and worms that chickens will eat while free ranging are in effect raw meat. So yes, chickens can eat raw meat.

Obviously, make sure the meat is fresh and showing no signs of rotting, and remove it from the run if it's not been eaten by roosting time.

Fresh meat left in a run is the perfect way to attract both rodents and predators.

They love meat! Why do people think chickens are vegetarians? They eat worms, insects, mice, snakes and whatever they can get their beaks into!

This is so true! People forget that chickens can eat meat, and that they should eat meat! Though, its obviously better to cook meat before you feed it to them, just to prevent diseases.

Gosh! Finally somebody said it!!
My rooster will absolutely tear into a snake when he sees one and try pecking into any small critters that get into the coop (Mice, Squirrels etc etc) And not only my rooster but my hens will kill mice and SHARE it. My sister for the longest time believed chickens ate greens and only greens.
You should have seen her face when she saw a hen eating a mouse right outside the back door.. :lau
