On the mend, but still questions: UPDATE, 20 week old banty wormy as heck,

Good news!

I'm glad there is notable improvement.

I had a few cockerels with very crooked keels. Did not even notice until I processed them, and it did not bother their quality of life.

I'm not positive, but I think a crooked keel might be due to a calcium deficiency.

It's genetic unfortunately Kathy. All of the cochin x barred rock boys had it. I believe their mother passed it on, as only her kids had it. A good % of them did. It was at least 75% if not higher. The Wyandotte x BR boys didn't have it, and neither did the RSL x BR boys. Just the Cochin crosses.

Very interesting, thanks.

Justine...
This could also be from her illness. Bones are porous and her lack of vitamin and nutrition uptake is softening her bones. She has been ill for a long time. It is hard on a chicken body. She sure is a fighter.

election day update:

When I got home around dusk, she came right to the kennel door and wanted out, actually banging on the wire door with her beak. Ate some groats, ignored the brocolli buds and grated apple, ignored the cheese crumbs, looked around a bit, and went back in the kennel and laid down. She had a full crop, I can see she drank a lot and had a lot of droppings today.

She also seemed steadier on her feet, and more lively when she was pecking at the grains .

Her droppings, however, are still on the green side, like frozen spinach green, but are solid and have urates. With the green, I am not sure how much nutrients she is getting. She is digesting the grains, however.

I realize I was getting very mixed up on previous posts. I will go back and correct them but for right now:
she was wormed, one dose.
I started corid 10/31 for one day.
quit corid on 11/1 to give her duramycin.
she's been on duramycin continuously in the water since Friday night, so this is the 4th night.
She's had two long soaks in a high concentration of warm water and epsom salts, which perked her up both times.

I will redo corid just to be cautious and not fool around. For some reason, and I can't remember why right now, I was thinking that I couldn't give her duramycin and corid in the same water. Not sure if that is true or not.

I don't understand why she is so disinterested in foods that normally chickens fight over, and is so fixated on the grains. It makes it hard to add extra nutrition to her.

was out of raw meat yesterday - I don't eat very much meat and I had used up all the liver I had on the molting chickens, but got some beef liver last night. I'll try it this morning on her when it gets light out. I'm trying to keep her on the daylight schedule now that she seems to be doing better.
Seems to me you saw a good improvement after the one day of Corid. Yea probably shouldn't mix with antibiotics.

I did see improvement for one day but then she tanked, which is why I went to hail mary duramycin. Looks like duramycin doseage is for 7-14 days for the duramycin, so I am going to have to decide how long to have her on it as I can't bring her back to the flock while she is on it.
