She is only a day old. Everyone thought she was going to die so I got her for free. She is a firecracker. She isn’t sick like gasping for breath or anything like that. Her legs are just sprawled and can’t walk. She kicks her legs and tried to move around. She can somewhat move around on her belly. I really like her so I want to save her. How can I do that?

Start by getting vitamins in her water. I like Rooster Booster or Sav-a-chick.

I have given her some star bar red-vival in a dropper. She spat it back at me but I am almost sure she got just a tiny bit. She did drink a tiny bit of water when I put her beak in it. She keeps biting at her legs. She moves around, so she isn’t like staying in one spot but she can’t stand up or walk. She is laying in the food dish right now.

I had someone tell me it was either mareks, botulism or a birth defect. I don’t think it’s either of the first two because she wouldn’t be cleaning herself and shaking her tail if she was sick like that. I was thinking it’s either the sprawled leg, or a niacin deficiency.

Could you post some pictures of her lying down and trying to move so we can see what position she’s putting her legs in?

Marek's is unlikely, there isn’t clear information about wether geese can catch the virus or not but from everything I’ve read it’s probably highly unlikely.
Botulism is questionable, it’s possible but unless she’s been exposed to stagnant water or something rotting in the one day she’s been alive I doubt it’s botulism.

Niacin, thiamine, vitamin E, calcium, protein deficiencies among other nutrient deficiencies are a strong possibility, sometimes if the mom was deficient the babies can be born with deficiencies so I would get her a multi-vitamin supplement, something like rooster booster poultry drench along with some probiotics to help keep her immune system working it’s best. You can use an eye dropper to drip it down her throat, which might be tricky as she’s so small, you can also put it into her water which would be safer.

Temperature fluctuations while incubating can cause birth defects and neurological issues.

There are other viruses/ bacterias that can cause neurological diseases but it’s hard to narrow down which.

Another possibility is slipped tendons which can be corrected if caught early.

It’s kinda hard to tell but her feet don’t go under her like a normal bird.Ehrn she laysflat they lay on either side of her. As you can see, even though she can’t walk she isn’t afraid to army crawl in the middle of them.she id the darkest one and smallest one. Sorry if the picsare crappy.Earlier she was laying with one foot behind herbut the paw wasn’t laying back it was on the ground. I think she has more strength in one than the other.

Also this is hard and I haven’t been able to figure out if it’s her umbilical cord belly button or her vent. I know the scab came off and it bleed a tiny bit. I have adult geese, adult ducks, and adult chickens so I know where the vent is but I can’t find it. Is this her vent of belly button?
